ghostlyease 17
Would you take it lure racing, simulated coursing? We run days that have these events, we have a huge amount of bull breeds that come along (friends of friends of friends, lol) but not many running dogs, the ones you would think would enjoy the days the most, we make sure everybody knows they are all breed events. Is it that if you have a dog that ""does" people would rather they didnt chase a lure with a plastic bag to be caught, or is there another reason. Just wondering as it would be lovely to get different dogs to the days. ACES web site link Quote Link to post

ACES web site link i wont show or run my dogs on lure's....mine are workers and i dont need the respect off show people to tell me my dogs are good at what they do..wont even show my terrier...most of the shows are fixed and the judges pick there friends dogs rather than the best stock...(this statement will go down like a lead balloon)....... minion 29
I always think of shows as a bit of fun. Have only ever been to a few but to be honest I enjoyed seeing other lurchers and terriers more than worrying if my lurcher would win the show or not. I keep whippets now and bought them from working stock. Bought as pets and workers. They both live indoor and are great with the kids. Now, they will be worked on rat, rabbit, phesant, squirrel and hare but they will race in the summer months. I am new to the racing but am really getting into it. I see no problems to people showing / lure coursing their dogs. Better than them being stuck in the kennel all summer? It's easier with whippets as there are propper orginised clubs and it seems easy to get involved with. I certianly would never judge anyone (excuse the pun ) for attending shows Quote Link to post
wetdogsmell 99
i don't see the harm in shows' there a bit of laugh and a chance to catch up with mates and talk shite. i work my dogs hard during the winter and don't understand the snobbery about shows' i wouldn't keep a dog just for showing but each to there own Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
If there was an event like what you hold, over here, I would definatley be involved. Its all a bit of fun. The dog and owners enjoy it. I just love seeing the dogs run and excercise and having fun. Quote Link to post

lurchergrrl 1,441
I went to Peterborough last October and had a blast. I'd do it again any chance I have to get to a show. Dogs had a great time, I met some excellent folks, twas a load of fun. But just that - fun. Quote Link to post
