tosh 0 Posted May 20, 2008 Report Share Posted May 20, 2008 hi mate swedes dont like acidic soil so ph test the soil and add lime to raise the ph if it is too low 6.5 is ideal also they need a rich and fertile soil that is well draining so you could add some well rotted manure and a bag of perlite hope this has been a help Quote Link to post Share on other sites

The best variety if you can find it is Devon Champion, the very best tasting swede that mashes very well developed for the heavitree red soil found in certain bits of devon.
