New Gun Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all, basically I bought a Weihrauch HW95 with a Hawke scope about 2 months ago maximum. has been spot on made loads of kills etc etc.

However, I went for a shoot today with my mate and weirdly enough both our guns were completley zeroed out, and when i attempted to see what was going on by shooting fence posts etc I was getting a massive spread of shots, and I mean massive! Have no ide aat all what is going on i tried to zero my gun back in but everytime i seemed to get closer i would be having shots not even hitting target! What possibly could be wrong? Tempreture change could not have done it, a bump would not do it as I would be able to re-zero the gun...I have absoloutley no idea, any advice?

Any chance something has worked loose? Has the scope 'crept' along the rails and worked loose? Has happened to me, also do you feel you are getting full power? One last thing, check the silencer if you have one and see if it is loose also.

All the best

Yeh I am sure of full power...as for the scope 'sliping' how do you mean? I could try tomorrow taking it all off and putting it back on again propley then trying to re zero in the rifle. I tried without silencer and am pretty sure it made no difference. I just thought if it slipped then at least it might be consistent with its new placement!! Who knows, its just weird both our guns went weird at the same time. Hmm, anymroe suggestions ?

I probably should have mentioned before that I have one missing screw at the frotn and another on order but it hasnt been playing up at all or inconsistent..It just went from being able to plant a accupel in a rabbits head standing at 30yrds to being used in the next shoot and being unshootable! I will tighten the screws and see what happens if they need tightening. Cheers for advice, anymore welcomed as I am deeply concerned seeing as I currently cant resist but go for a shoot 5 nights a week 5-9.30! Hahaha!

were you using the same pellets (ie both using from same tin) tests have showed that a rattled tin can cause some very interesting results specialy under 12ft ibs.

just my opinion

Hahah, well I thought I was being paranoid at first as I saw alot of strange orange flashes that night! Some sort of electrical buildup in the atmosphere or something. However I went got the new screw put in tightened it all up and went bk to the permission land with my mate, started firing off again missing a post at 10yrs, then swapped pellet from Napier power hunters which we had no problem using in the past with previous rifles, to freshly bought bisley super field. after a few shots i could clearly see and feel that it was now consistent and shooting straight so i zero'd it back in and swear the bisley pellets are the best I have ever used, massievely accurate and brutal! Feels like a new gun! Strange that the napiers were doing that though, admitadly they were quite lose in the barrell, but so were the accupels (too much hype) which is what i had had been using before the napiers... Oh well all is fixed now, will put up some pictures when I get some biguns!
