Charging a Rapid 7

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I'm looking for some advice on charging a .177 Rapid 5 (12ft/lb). The info on the Theoben website seems a little confusing to my simple brain!

I have both the 280cc and 400cc bottles and I intend to put the rifle on the chrono over a full charge to try and get an idea of the power band. My questions is:

'to what bar should I be charging the bottles to get a full charge?'

I'm always a little wary when I'm charging the bottles and don't like to push my luck. Would just like to know that any figures I calculate in terms of the consistency and power band are going to be accurate.

Cheers,

200 bar on a rapid mate but i would fill to about 190 as a little less sometimes gets a sweet spot where the rifle shoots better :victory:

The s type rapid is regulated, so there should be little or no power curve. Only variable is due to fill pressure regarding the number of shots available before the rifle comes off the reg. Fill pressure should be around 200bar, safe working pressure for the bottle will be stamped on the bottle.

Is it an s type or MK1 you have. MK1's are not regulated as std.

Thanks for the prompt replies fellas. It's a Mk1 in .177. Any views as to how many shots I should get out a fill for the 280cc and 400cc bottles and how many of these will be useable for hunting? It would be nice to see how many people are getting in practice, rather than the estimates given by theoben.

A mate has one of those chronys that fit on the end of your barrel and a computer programme that will record the data so you can play about with it and get to know your rifle.

I will be using air arms pells through it.
