A ferret, to most birds from blue tit up, represents a predator. They'll come and point at it and take the piss out of it if it enters their territory. That's what the crows are up to.

Take something from this. Learn how other birds react. Listen to the special calls and watch their behaviour around ye visible 'predator' in their midsts.

When I'm out with the rifle by day I seldom waste my time scanning the open ground for anything. I move slowly and quietly, watching and listening to the birds along the hedgerows. See a Blackbird standing so, tail flicking as it utters that distinctive, " Pink! Pink, Pink! " call. Couple of smaller birds flitting and twittering. An air of nervous tension around that hedge? Time to go into Hunting the Hunter mode. Watch the shadows beneath the hedge. Game On!

How many were there?

Were they those proper crows or them stupid little jackdaws?

Whatever kind of crow they are you should shoot them in the head <<<<<(Take a look at my picture) ;) .

Sorry luke there was about 8 of them in all.2brave fuckers were standing on the roof of the run.;(

Unlikely to have been crow's in that number, they're solitary critters when out and about whereas rooks and 'daws like company. Rough shooters have been known to use captive ferrets out in the field as rook bait :thumbdown:
