Roadside corn 'oils

I drove up to Richmond yesterday to deliver some mesh and unusually for me, I stopped at one of these raodside vans selling burgers etc. I very very rarely stop at these corn shops as I've invariably found them to be dire.

 

But this little van on the A66 just outside Richmond was a bit different, I asked for a sausage and mushroom sarny and the lass started to reel off "Would you like plain sausage, pork and leek, pork and apple, pork and chives, pork and black pudding" etc. etc. So I had a pork and black pudding with mushrooms and it was absolutely......fan.......tastic. She cooked it to order, not straight off a warmer that had been stood all day.

 

The van had a sign up saying Health and Hygiene awarded, most of the roadside corn 'oils I've ever used should have had a Health and Hygiene Warning, they're that bad.

 

Just wondered if there are any other decent ones about that serve edible food instead of grease butties.

went to one yesterday on the a6 just north of Kendal..................

 

offered a choice of tea ( yorkshire or tetley) yorkshire obviously)

 

had a cumberland burger...................she asked if i wanted it rare, medium , etc.............

 

did i want cheese, mushrooms, peppers, onions etc.

 

all served in a delicious farmhouse bun....

 

£2. for the lot..............................bloody good nosh and bloody good value.

 

i think with all the press coverage on healthy eating theyv'e had to try a bit harder !!!!

There is one on the way to somerset from here thats brilliant, my ex inlaws always stop there and I stop there for a cuppa on my way to longleat with Tiegan. I think its on the A30 but I can't be too sure.
