Glad the dogs sorted.

Interesting thread something to learn a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Honey has been used in medicine four ever, certainly not a new thing, but you need to know when to use it. Flour is a new one to me & can't see how it would work.

Look, I am glad your got it sorted.........lets hope it heals well with no complications.

Everyones has there own opinion, but I will not nickle and dime it where my dogs are concerned and it boils my piss when I see others doing it........nothing personal to you, but thats how I feel about it.

I said it before, but I would not put honey or flower or any other dam thing on a pretty deep wound if it was me, or another human being and why should dogs who lets face it, work pretty hard, get any less well treated.

For some, they may not be an easy trip from a vet and so have to remedy most things themselves, but in England no one is that far from anything and so there is no excuse.

Its just how I feel about it and I reckon its the right way, but hey, thats just me.

Good luck to your dog, I hope it mends.

This wound was treated by a vet, when all failed and the wound was breaking down, manuka honey came to the rescue!!! :notworthy:

wilf if you are not from the uk then you can understand there is a certain stigma with hunting ppl and some vets,as for takin them to the vets for anything then you obviously dont wotk terriers,,,,,,,,, imagine the look on ya vets face as you walk in with one breathing through its muzzle!!!

i liked the honey idea..as for stitching i was told its whithin 16 hours but im supprised no one mentioned peroxide, its the best thing for stitching old flesh or getting rid of abcesses or infected wounds.i started using on all terrier wounds and found that it reduced there lay up time by a lot.also the stuff they inject up cows tits for mastitas is very good too.

the vey would look at you stupid if you walked in with a terrier breathing through the muzzle, good point mate vets cant be everything, a good dog boy sorted it for me and i got his number so anything like this in the future hell be to the rescue if i cant handle it myself :boogie::boogie::boogie:

That sort of wound, has to be left open to the air.

Keep it clean, and put some honey on it everyday.

Dont use a very strong disinfectant, dilute it way down. A strong disinfectant can hinder the healing process.

have.nt heard of putting honey on a wound before.the bees nd wasps would love it.i always use wound powder on all my dogs that get cuts this stops the bleeding and cleanes the wound i ave had no problems with it.good luck with the healing. and happy hunting

this is my lurcher bitch, she had a little cut on her throat from a poking out tree whilst out bushing with the terriers yesterday afternoon, today she scratched her neck and kicked it open alot more, what would u reccomend to use on that i took her to a vet he said theres nothing you can do apart from leave it and leave nature take its course? what do u reccomend people? thanks for any advise :notworthy::notworthy:

surprised vet didn't stitch it.. try quick heal on it its very good with cuts......you might need to put a cowl on your dogs head to give it a chance to heal properly.
