i DID NOT go to the vets today. my father spoke to a mate whos been in the game for over 40 years and has seen some wounds similar to this, so my father cancelled the vets appointment because his mate who come to see my bitch is friendly and the vet and the vet told him what to do, before he came i cleaned the wound up, he trimmed round it, stapled it up, and put a bandage over it with her collar back on (not tight atall) he told me this will help if the scratches in the area the she wont scratch the wound back open because the collar and bandage are protecting it, he also give me some gel stuff hes used in the passed its in a clear tub it must be used 1ce a day and so with my mother working in a medical supplies factory she can get me new bandages every day :clapper::clapper: now ill put the gel on tonight, put a new bandage on then her collar will go back on after it, i wil be doing this every day and ill let you know how shes doing, best thing is shes acting like nothings happend, if gets any worse my fathers mate will come back and im sure hell know what to do as all the wounds similar to this in the past has been sorted, he also said hes seen 1 or 2 worse than this so if all them got better by this way i dont see why my bitch cant, thanks for the advise anyway alot of the advise sounded very good, think i owe him a pint or 2 :boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::drink::drink::drink:

what next? a scribes excrement??the smoke from a burning ibis :clapper:

i dont doubt the healing properties of honey and all the rest of it or that it would/might heal all by its self eventually.. but surely a few stitches in the first place with the ends left to drain it would heal in a fraction of the time.

He didnt take the dog, thats a surprise.............but a backyard expert fixed it, but at least it sounds like the fella made a proper job of it............so, dog is fixed on the cheap and everyones happy.

To be honest, this whole thread has been a joke, and some of the hocus pocus that has been spouted makes me cringe.

The lesson and message from this thread..............

If you are gonna own a working dog, make sure you can afford to look after it correctly or dont get one!

any idea wher i can get that from and how much would it cost? how long will it last me? thanks

Thats really what this nonsense is all about aint it  ...............lets treat the dog on the cheap.

I am hard on my hounds but I will tell ya this, when it comes to looking after them, I dont give a feck what the treatment costs.

I owe them that much and so does any dog owner.............you carry on with your carpet baggers remedys, and next time you get a gaping fecking hole in you that needs medical attention, get some fecker to sprinkle flour and fecking honey on it.

Was going to reply to this earlier but forgot,

if using honey is a carpet baggers remedy, then you better not visit the hospital then

if you have an infected wound or wound that wont close , most hospitals now a days are using a product called

medihoney, there has been extensive trials done, over the property's of honey

and its use on wounds, it has been used for thousands of years,

but its only now that the medical profession are catching up.

so i am sorry but i would rather use carpet baggers remedy's,

and know no matter what that i am doing the best that i can for my dog's.

btw you can Medihoney on line as well.

Lurcherboy, its bullshit the rot you've copped over your thread, Cuag and Pegleg have given you sound advice. Its just a skin tear for crying out load all you knockers, its not a flesh wound, remeber dogs have a lot thicker skin than us so it looks worse, any disifectant will work, check out page 2 of this thread, this stuff is dynamite. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index...risol&st=15

Just remeber a lot of vets are NOT experienced with these type of issues and an experienced dog man will usually know how to fix the injury better than a vet.

As all the vet will do is give you a course of antibiotics, if they try and stitch it they are not very experienced.

The only time I stitch a wound now is if bleeding needs to be controlled and definitely not for a skin wound. Any of the disinfectants the decent lads have offered advice for will correct your dogs problem ASAP.

I have never heard off the honey treatment Cuag, but am very interested to hear more.

Good on you for the thread Lurcherboy, you were asking a genuine question and have copped too much shite for it. Have another look at the pics lads, it is only torn skin.

Good luck with it anyway mate.

Cheers

try purple spray mate. i use it all the time and it works. good luck

i wouldnt say purple spray is the stuff for this mate, and WILF i dont need a vet to do it i took it to 1 vet and he was aload of f****n wank, for all i know he could of done a little quick fix and cost me £1000 and it could of been done better by a good dog man, thats why i was going to a good vet untill his mate (my fathers mate too) done the job for me and to be honest shes looking great, the staples have held good and it cost me nothing but a few pints, NOW i am willing to pay for that im not that type of guy but i didnt really think that was a vets job i know alot of you on here will have alot more experiance than me on this type of cut but thats the reason i asked you for some advise, there was 1000's of different things to choose from and im new to this so i dont really know whos the good dog men and whos just the men with dogs? SO thats why my father seen a local lad who he's good mates with to sort the job (hes sorted similar wounds to this in the past and also alot worse) say what you want the bitch is on her way to recovery and i think shell be out within a few weeks keeping her fitness level high enough for a few callouts during her time off :clapper::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie::boogie:
