sandymere 8,263
Shoot the fecking vet and go to a decent one, bear in mind that the RSPCA would love a neglect case. Quote Link to post
mattyg 1,862
just get the dog to a decent vet, its the least you can do if you value you dog! Quote Link to post
Guest WILF
I dont for one minute belive that a vet would not stitch that, I dont think you even took the dog. Now get it to a vet and sort the animal out! Quote Link to post

Guest WILF
No I have not................I just take my animals to the vet whenever they need it and spend money on proper medical supplies for stuff I can treat myself. Please dont tell me you would seriously try to treat a wound like that with nothing more than homepride!? And yeah, I will keep paying the vet when I have to because my dogs are worth more than a bag of flour.........tit! Edited May 9, 2008 by WILF Quote Link to post
Lily 0
HELP! I have to agree with you! Take the dog to the vet. Sure it will heal ok if it doesn't get infected, If it is stitched it will heal quick if you leave it it will take a while and be quite messy! I think the dog deserves better? Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
If the wound is more than four hours old, they shouldnt stitch it because they would be locking in bacteria. It has to be kept clean and open. Honey is the best thing. Quote Link to post
desertdog 149
get some antibiotics, get another bloody vet, if you cant afford a vet take your dog to the pdsa, they might help, i aint no vet, but that looks like it has absessed and burst, cold boiled water with salt in it , but get the dog jabbed, Quote Link to post
Guest lurcherboy2008
WILF of course iv took her to the vet im not gonna leave my dog suffering in the kennel like that this aint a post for people to argue or jus say anything will do its a post to see if anyone on here had had a past experience of a dog with a similar wound to this? what will honey do then? and flour? iv been told to get some powder from a pet shop? what powder will that be? i clean it everydat its over 4 hours old now obviously the reason you cant stitch it is becuase its too wide and the vet told me if you put a stitch in that the stitches will just rip the wound open even more, skin under a dogs neck is just thin so it wil obviously tear if a stitch goes in it so i agree with my vet, im just happy its in the warmer months not the months when shes out n the field doing her job, now please dont comment on here if your just going to be silly, im looking for people who have seen wounds like this in the past and know the crack, it aint a post for people to argue Quote Link to post
desertdog 149
you could trim the fur back, and try steristrips, these are not going to affect the wound but should help to close it, and spray on some greenoils, this will help the healing,i dont reckon the lampshade will cover that, it looks like a burst abcess, try it ,it may help, the only thing honey will do is cause the other dog to lickit. and as for flour keep it for baking. Guest SHOT
vets mate or maybe one of the more experienced dog folk will oblige and sort it for you. and as for not being able to stitch it because of where it is..its rubbish. Quote Link to post
