Guest Taffybull
just because they are bullx's dont mean they are all thick set things that are to heavy to run, the bitch i got now has took the more racey side, and she can run, and yes they can catch hares, not many do but they can and i have seen a bullx catch hare agreed with above, my mate has a half x bull bitch, and she to catches hares. .. as 'Tallyho' said, they are not all thick set things that are to heavy to run. Stevebeno 0
All lurcher crosses have there good and bad points. Having my first lurcher i decided to get some reading done and in several of these books the bull crosses seem to get a fair bit of critism. I have a grey bull pup and hes comming along great but since this is my 1st dog i have nothing to compair him to. What are your thoughts on the bull cross used in lurchers???? there are many difrent prefrances/oppinions and aslo types of lurchers, i dont see how people can critisize surten types if they have not owned 'the' type (ie bull blooded) of lurcher,(not saying that eny-one on this thread has 'nocked' the bull type lurcher, but.. often this question comes up on this forum 'your thoughts on a bullcross'. why does it get repeated? its a pointless question in my eyes, but there you go.. 'each to there own' ''why does it get repeated'' Maybe if you read the post you mite have realised that this is my 1st dog hence my inexpirence and hence why i have asked the question. No disrespect mate because i am familia with your name and you have given sound advise on other topics i have posted on this fourm but if you have seen this question asked before then why comment on it with what i see as a negative comment.hope this reply does not offend. earth&hounds 94
this is a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 bull rabbit fox and mr long ears but smashed his hip so had to retire him at 2 same good dog hitting his prime Quote Link to post
Guest lurcherboy2008
whoever say they are shit are on drugs, you will get some shit ones, you can get bull x's that turn out to look more on the greyhound side and the bull shows once they get bit, you should never judge any dog or say any type of breed is shit its the time and effort you put into them my lurcher bitch has got about 6 different breeds of dog in her and when i tell people what breed she is alot do say 'i bet shes not very good' she made me happy through her learning stages she wouldnt touch a fox before, this season was her best season yet, shes 3 year old now and she often comes lamping on the back of the truck with us with the rifle to retrieve shot or wounded fox any how the time i put into the dog is well worth it from the beginning of this season to mid season i was out lamping 3 nights a week with her (weather wise) and my mates lurcher and almost every night hitting double figures, weve had some great nights with them pair this season ill take a few pics of her enjoying her time of, p.s theres a bull cross going over here hes a good dog he could hares with ease in his prime and im keeping a pup back from them, now if bull x's was shit i wouldnt put him over her and keep a pup back so dont judge any dog by the look, size or breed Edited May 8, 2008 by lurcherboy2008 Quote Link to post
RETIC80 11
Personally i wont have anything else apart from bull crosses in my kennels.Ive tried most of the other crosses of lurcher in the past, but rate the bull cross the most(my opinion).Yes,as with any other cross, you will get shit, from people breeding from shit,'just to have a pup' or 'cause my mate wanted a pup' bollox.Get a dog from proper working lines, worked reguarly. You wont go far wrong with your bull cross mate, take your time with him, dont rush, let him go at his own pace and you will,im sure have a cracker. I love the grit and determination this cross posses and not entered to early and spoilt(as so many do),will do everything you ask of them.Good luck. Quote Link to post
