crazy behaviour

Recommended Posts

Last year, i bread my little polecat and she had a litter of 9. I sold them on and kept four of the females. I eventualy moved them in permanent with there mother and everything is fine. Over the last little while ive noticed two in perticular dragging one of there sisters about but i thought they where just playing but then i started to notice the little thing cant even get a drink in piece without getting dragged away. They dont seem to be hurting it but i didnt like that behaviour so i gave them a little slap. They just go back and do it again so i watched them for a while. This is the gods honest truth. One of the ferrets draggs her into the nest box, cuddles in and uses her as a pillow to try and go back to sleep. All she does is eat and sleep and she is second in command after her mother. She was the runt of the litter to. Has anyone ever had this problem or maby any tips on how to stop this as i dont want to seperate them. I even thought of putting a we teddy into the nest box for her to cuddle into but i thought that was a bit gay as my ferrets are trained killers ha ha. They may remember when there mother used to drag them back into the nest box when they escaped it as babies, who knows. They are not fighting but i think its crazy behaviour. some people would call it bullying.

Cheers again, Sol.

Yep, sounds like it's hormonal to me too, Kay. Has she been with a hob, or jill-jabbed recently?

Its not clear they have in the post so i assume not

That explains the behaviour then, its fairly normal for them to drag other ferrets round when there hormonal, i had an older jill yrs ago who was very maternal, even the last few years off her life she didnt come into season at all but she was a superb foster mom to any kits who found there way here, she did everything other than feed them, special old gal she was
