Hey i hope nobody laughs at this now, but being quite a regular ratter especially at night on outdoor pig units i have had problems keeping an eye on all the dogs in the dakness, can be working 4/5 at a time by myself and the darker ones tend to not show up in the lamp that well as they fly about. So... as i was mooching around pets at home one day when i used to get packed tripe before whole tripe i noticed a wee reflective vest and had a brain storm!!! So bought a couple for trying, to be honest though i kept forgeting them when i went out, so on my current ratting trip in Suffok just now i pu them on! Honestly what a difference i can just have a wee head lamp on when im sneaking up on rats and don't want the lamp on and the vest picks up the reflection so well, the result was a more relaxed nights ratting without having to worry about where the patt was! I know all of you may think im mad and have mabye gone into doggy fashion or something! :icon_redface:

But i'd recomend it! The dogs dont notice them as they are so close fitting and light and they don't get caught on stuff, if they ever did get caught if the dog crawls under something, then i dont think they'd cuase any danger as they just velcro on! So anyway i hope this may be of use to someone out there, or at least made you giggle! Have attached a pic of my patt bitch wearing hers!!! Happy hunting!

Kate

Just what i was gonna mention, SS does any type of collar with a refletive strip and they really can come in handy.

Got some years ago and wondered if it would work, it does and now Strong Stuff does 'em.

Used if two dark dogs are running, you can tell which is which, though i'd blacken one strip in patches to tell the difference, bet SS would make 'em up different if asked nicely.

If your dog is running single it sorta keeps one eye on the dog whilst your concentrating on your chosen quarry with the lamp, you get a better view of the twists and turns just out of the main beam.

One slight 'fly in the ointment' though....... Only use 'em on full permission.... your asking for trouble anywhere else!!!

Cheers

mostly get white dogs for that reason but just put reflective tape on a collar

Yeh i can see your thinking! I dont use a collar just incase they get stuck under a pig arc or something! Kinda like a stuck pig eh?!!! :tongue2: JUST now got in from ratting had a good couple of hours and got 50 rats :gunsmilie:
