Would you sell your pups to a pet home?

I was just wondering looking at the 'Saluki' post would people on here sell their pups to pet homes?

I don't work my hounds but I do believe I give my lot a great life. So was wondering if you were apporached by someone like me would you sell?

i would prefer them to go to working homes but as long as thay are well looked after i dont see any probs with them going to a pet home.

I think a good forever home is more important than if the animals worked or not , i know some will disagree but there you go ,my opinion for what its worth

I Breed, show and work my dogs and i believe without the pet market it just wouldent be viable for me to have a litter of pups. Id rather a puppy of mine went to a good pet home for life then a working home where it may end up in a rescue centre when its working days are over or if it gets injured etc.

 

There are lots of decent working dog people who keep there dogs for life and also alot that just keep them whilst they are working well for them.

as long as the pup is going to be well looked after it does'nt matter where it goes,but prefer them to go to working homes

Good points, but I think most 'pet' lurchers are still capable of taking deer and pet owners need to be awae of that. I presume a couple of my rescues were failed workers, but i still need to have control over them or they would take a deer every walk!

My lot are cat friendly and live with cats, they know cats are not on the menu!!

To be honest, a GOOD forever home is the most important regardless of whether it be a pet or working home, but i prefer working homes as i can keep track on the pups progress.

THE COLLIE LINE DONT TAKE THE ODD ONE THERE FECHERS , THYE FIGHT IN THE KENNEL WHEN BORED AND ARE POWERFULL , AND WITH THE LAWS WELL POLICE ETC CAN GET YOU IN SHIT ,FECH GIVING 20 YEARS OF WORKING LINES WITH A BIT OF A NATURE IN THEM TO WASTE ON A PET HOME , EVERY DOG IVE BRED OF THEM HAVE BEEN SPUNKY , I DONT THINK AL DOGS MAKE GOOD PET HOMES EVEN AT EIGHT MY OWN DOG HAS PINS IN HER FRONT LEG STIFF BACK LEGS, BEEN WORKED TILL SHE DROPS , SHE STILL MANAGED TO GET ME

I agree your dogs are not really what a pet home requires and best left for working homes!!

At the same time I think you may be suprised at what some pet only dogs are capable of!!

If they are pet only how would you know? Obviously not evey badly bred dog is going to be a bad dog. But your chances are much higher if you get a well bred dog, obviously.

no mate i got to tell you life is worth much more then gold.....id rather give a dog to a goodhome rather then have cash and it going to idots who dont care for there animals.......
