also Mitchell interested in your choice of barrel twist 1:12 why did you pick that twist, does it infuence your bullet size my 223 with the same twist wont stabilize a bullet the size of a 55g nosler balistic tip cant remeber off hand how long they are but it will work well with the slightly shorter hornady 55g.

i want to get a rifle but cannot decide on what caliber, .17HMR or .22WMR and could you tell me what range they shoot best at

Hate to give a slightly 'cop-out' answer, but it depends a lot on the shooter.

With my hmr, I shoot rabbits cleanly anywhere between 75 yards and approaching 200.

Others push the envelope further - say 300 yards in perfect conditions.

is there a rifle thats legal for shooting both rabbits and foxes?dont know alot about rifles

Theres no straight forward answer to this because a lot depends on your police force. And it also depends on what you want to do with the rabbits afterwards. A .17hmr will give you edible rabbits with a head shot and also stop a fox but some police forces don't allow you to apply for a .17 for fox. We then get into a huge debate over calibers and abilities etc. Of course at the other end of the scale a .223 or a 22-250 will cleanly kill foxes and of course kill Rabbits, but the end result is a sort of rabbit puree spread over half an acre. I don't believe any police force would grant such a caliber for just rabbits as they see it as over kill. So the simple answer to your question is Yes and No. ;)
