will.f11 24
I am buying a bird aviary 6ftx6ftx6ft to keep the ferts in. It will have no accomodation in it so I was wondering if I put a 2 or 3 tier hutch in with 1 door open with a ramp would this be ok for the ferts? If i put a cuple of hutches in I may be able to keep upto 10 ferts! Quote Link to post
sue 1
that would be ok for the summer but i would get a 6x4 shed to put on the side of it for the winter if posible Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
This is ours: a bit tatty, but spacious with pipes running up and down the walls, with a very old 3 tier hutch at the back. We left the bedroom doors on and took the main door off the bottom compartment, and the ferts go up and down via 2 lengths of pipe which link the 3 levels. Straw all over the floor, and its in the shade of a willow tree and built up against our big shed and a lean to so 2 sides are solid, as is the roof (onduline laid over mesh.) Ours shin up and down the whole height of the mesh walls, and prat about on the roof of the hutch as well, access gained via the wall pipes: the speed they go up and down those: its like a helter skelter LOL All made out of old aviary panels, but we did reinforce them at the bottom with ply up to about 16 inches as the dogs gallop by and we didn't want them bashing in the wire! Like I said, its no way a superb palace but it does the job and gives them plenty of space. Quote Link to post

Guest bigredbusa
yep im jealous , sooner i move the better . one of the best courts shown . spot on Quote Link to post
Tumbleweed 1
Wonderful court . Our two jills have kits in the same nest and seem fine so far - approx 22 on day of birth (same day) and a quick head count today and there is still approx the same - I managed to count 20. I haven't counted a definite number as I'm only peeking quick at the moment. Kits are a week old tomorrow. With that much space I'm sure they'll be fine. Quote Link to post
