I've heard that they can be cooked like pigeon.. either caseroled or pink on a salad. Never been that keen to try it but may give it a go sometime.. if im starving. Smokoe 2
I made a rook pie last year, took the form of a meat & potato. Dice the the breast meat, dice an equal amount of gammon, finely chop an onion and fry. Boil a diced potato and carrot and when cooked mix all together and season, at this point it seemed bit dry so instead of stock I added some Campbells condensed chicken soup to get a nice consistency. Line a pie dish with short crust pop the mixture in, put a top on and cook. I had some pastry and filling left and made a pasty too. It was very tasty, but on it's own rook is quite bland it deffinatley needs some gammon with it however you cook it. Good Luck. I shall be going out in the week or two for some more, got my eye on a nice active rookery Last years outing
