IanB 0
Whats the best 4x4 pickup L200, navara, hilux ?
BLACKBOB 9
Ive got L200 Warrior its very good on and off road, has a hard drive due to carrying capacity and a shite turning circle, the new one out in March 2006 is much improved and ive owned many a landrover and its better than any ive owned. The navara my [bANNED TEXT] owned whas complete and utter shite but the new one is like shite off a shovel very impressive. The hilux ive no comment as ive never put my arse in one. Guest Robbie Morran
I had a L200 great to drive , thirsty as f**k , expensive to fix. My mate has a Nissan navar its not bad on the juice, its never let him down .. Hilux really heavy on juice , we used one to goto the fens fora few weeks , we did about 5 t 6 hundred miles , round trip, it cost us about 90 pound in fuel ......... Peugot 405 diesle magic , great for the dogs .................
lucky 578
the uni-mog jokng aside i would say the hi-lux is the better of the 3 you mentioned, off road but the Navara and L200 look better, imo none of them are that good off road because there so light on the back end, a land rover will piss all over any of the 3 off road but if you want something that looks well and is good off road get a trooper if it had to be a pickup i'd go for the hi-lux (2.4 uk 2.8 imports)
pegandgun 52
If you want something to carry gear in get a pick up.If you want something to go off road forget about the rest of the shite, get a landrover

Bobo 135
Hilux for me,i've no complaints with my 2.4d single cab,it's never let me down off road.I had a 2.4td surf before that and it was shit off road, far too heavy.
KevO 42
The L200 as said drinks to much, the theres no such thing as a 3 point turn in it........... And for of road its to long in the wheel base ....Comfy though........... The HI-Lux is defo a better pickup for dog related outings........

Guest Corkonian
One of the 4X4 mags on the shelves at the moment has the new hilux and navara compared. New Hilux has the old engine and its very sluggish - I test drove one it's not great to be honest - for a new car and at that price. Visibility is brutal as well - tiny rear window and the door pillars seem huge. Any mechanics I know say the Navara is fine til you put some miles on it >30k then they start to feck up - new one could be different but AFAIK the engine is more or less the same as the old one. L200 is fine if you're a midget - know a lot of people with them and they can't wait to get rid of them - not that easy to shift though. Seems to be a lot goes wrong with them? I have a MK4 hilux - find it great on diesel and the D4D is supposed to be even better. One tank got me through the hols
forest of dean redneck 11,609
landrover. bloke down road had to pay £94 for a second hand alternator for his mitsi :11:
Snelly 0
I have got a Hi-Lux VX D4D double cab with all the trimmings and it is great. Best car I have ever had. Contrary to what some others have said, I find it to be good on juice and quite economical for the size of it. I have got to order a new company car next year and it will be another one for me. They do a model now called the Invincible named after the fact that Top Gear tried to kill one and couldn't! I think they are great and I test drove all the competition. Nissan was tiny, Ford was shite, Mitsi was okay but I wasn't prepared to drive around in something with Warrior or Animal written down the side! I would feel like a complete lemon in one of those! Cheers, Snelly.
hairyface 211
got a 1999 hilux doublecab mk4turbo, and was getting 30/31mpg until i put a canopy on it, now its down to about 28/29mpg but i think thats still pretty good ,off road av never had any probs yet, not the fastest on road but you can,t av everything. my old trooper was a flying machine but being a 3.1td it was very thirty, only got about 20/22mpg so it had to go. one thing that does piss me off about the hilux is you have to turn the wheel hubs when going offroad, a mate has a warrior L200 and it feels like your driving a fecking ford capri
