kent scotty 0
just wondering why other terriers are'nt used in lurcher mixes? is it that the beddies are so good or is it that they are quiet? i see that wheatons are used but not many of the others. is it a size thing?do the smaller terriers come up to small?or is it just fashion? im thinking of patterdales etc? i would think they have a bit more fire than some or is this not true in the crosses or is it to much fire? cheers scott Quote Link to post

Ossie 11
i've seen a young patt x whippet at a show, a nice looking little thing, quite timid though, very nervy. Quote Link to post
Tiny 7 1,694
my mate had a first cross fell x whippet and i can honestly say its 1 of the best alrounder i have ever seen working. he died last year while out doing what he loved. but not all's lost my mate putting his first cross beddy x grey (heartbreak fell) dog over the fell x whippets litter sister to get the blood back before its lost. id say that other terriers can be used people just stick to what they know and what works for them Quote Link to post
kent scotty 0
cheers for the replies. i suppose if the crosses are used work theres not much poit going anywhere else!! cheers scott Quote Link to post
bigdan 11
i was thinking if someone had a breeding plan you could put a patxwhippet then to a greyhound or bigger lurcher you would soon end up with some thing thats 1/4 patterdale i think you would need more than the yellow pages to mate a pat and a greyhound so i think thats how you could do it but its been done with a bull terrier bullgreyhound i think it would help i seen russel x whippet before that made a good dog Quote Link to post
cúagusgiorraí 57
The Irish Terrier cross was popular years back. I also heard of a local lurcher, a Kerry Blue Terrier cross Greyhound, that was meant to be excellent. Quote Link to post

Dont think the small terriers have the right type of intelligence to put in a bigger body. Quote Link to post
Ossie 11
my little terrier thing is fast turning into a cracking wee dog, excellent nose, very bright, very fast, and very obediant. i never thought it'd bother me that she's been spayed, but i'm starting to think that her with longer legs would be a bloody handy little dog. problem is i obviously can't breed from her, and i have no sodding idea what cross she is Quote Link to post
