woz 260
in a few words dont bother getting one mate...there shite plinking guns....sure baldie and a few others will come on giving it big licks about the 1022.......to get a 1022 to cycle correctly and become reasonably accurate you need to change......the slide/breach/reseaver/barrel/stock/ejector mech/trigger......you already use the finest 22lr on the market so why change?? there is no place for them in the hunting field!!! my reasons for saying this is......when you look at your target you check back stop then fire!! if you miss you cycle the bolt on your 452 check back stop fire again....iv seen many lads with semi auto's machine gun the field with when they miss and there quary is running.....iv got a cz 452 and i had to have a 1022..it lasted two months before i got rid of the dam thing!!! even when you buy brand new magazines for them the suppliers wont garentee that the mag will cycle in your perticular rifle.... lgray88 4
cheers woz ill take your word for it then , as you say the cz is a great gun , i certainly cant fault it at all , i just wanted to try the semi auto just for a change ,but i guess now il be sticking to the cz liam Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
For shooting bunny rabbits the CZ is the better bet really. BUT the 10/22 is a perfectly capable rabbit rifle, contrary to popular belief all you need to fix is the trigger. Quote Link to post
lgray88 4
what problems does the trigger have exactly? , does anyone know how big you can get magazines for the cz 22lr rifles , as i think its just the 5 shot i have liam Quote Link to post

I'm with woz on this, some years ago decided I wanted a change from my BRNO .22 and bought a 10/22 - I seem to have been more patient than woz - it took me 3 months to get rid of it. I got fed up having to slide the bolt back each time to check if the stupid thing had cycled a bullet - when I didn't check, it didn'd cycle. I bought an Anschutz which I still have - a great rifle, but I still think the cz is a great bit of kit but at the time my pride would not let me go back to one Stick with what you have Quote Link to post
Mr_Logic 5
OK, clearly people have had 10/22 problems. All I can say is this... I have a 10/22 T, it cycles everything I've ever asked it to (except Eley Zimmer, and they're 30 ft lbs so that's fair!!). It's accurate, and it has a decent trigger. The issue with the standard trigger is that it's crap, it's heavy, it has a rubbish pull etc etc! The 10/22T has the 'target' trigger, which is OK. To improve the trigger costs about 30 quid for a kit, or considerably more for a replacement trigger unit. But, so long as you keep it clean, it will work. And by clean, I mean if you go and blat a tin can, you strip and clean the rifle. Which is much easier than on any other semi auto I have owned, but still arduous next to a bolt action. Yokel Matt 918
I had a custom 10/22 and, initially was very happy with it. The trigger pull, untuned, is a little too firm so getting that sorted certainly helps to prevent pulling shots. My main gripes and with the Magazine. Absolute crap and, if you are crazy enough to attempt to strip them and clean them, will take you ages to put back together again! Accuracy wise i was very happy, no desernable flip from the action. It just got to the stage where the cycling was so unreliable on sub-sonic ammo (eley and win) that i binned it for a... CZ 452. Quote Link to post
spudlington 3
I use a CZ and can't fault it apart from the safety catch pulling back to fire as opposed to sliding forwards, a small thing I know. My missus got herself a 10/22 for a bit of informal target shooting, plinking etc. My god the trigger is terrible! The action and mag need to be spotless to cycle properly and after 100 rounds on the range it starts to clog up. I think if you're willing to put in the time and effort to improve trigger magazine etc and keep it spotless they can be great little guns. I'd say you should stick with the CZ for it's reliability, low maintenance and accuracy with no headaches. Quote Link to post
woodga 170
we use a cz now iv tried the rugers and had problems the triggers are shite the action is noisy accuracy is good but you need to know that when you cycle a round its going to work iv fired tens of thousands though the cz and never had any problems apart from the odd misfire which was down to the shell. cz cheap and dependable i cant fault them Quote Link to post
comanche 3,103
A mate had a 10 shot mag for his BRNO but it did occasionally jam when it got near the bottom so he went back to the five shot.I think the fact that a few people don't rate the .22 rf very seriously is because they've had bad experiences with semi-auto versions.
