First off, there is a NEW one, anyone tell me what the difference is between the old and new please?

Second, honest views on clarity, build quality, reliability, value for money..you know ...is it any good, have you had any problems with it?

Many thanks

deker to answer all your questions with one answer SHI*E!.

i had one on a 17hmr for all of 3 weeks.the problems were.1.scope would not return to zero when i dialled in any extra windage/elevation.2/did a box test at 75yds the p.o.i ended up 2high 1 inch right- thats bad! 3/ the construction overall was not bad but iv seen better on cheaper scopes. 4/i dont think the tube was true it was in laymans terms -bent.so i took it back where i bought it from when in the shop there was another one on the counter the guy went blood red when i pulled mine out of the bag.got my money back a rather muted apology and went and bought a leupold guess what?NO PROBLEMS. if i were you i would stay well clear mate. :drink:

Deker, the main problem with cheaper variables is as Gary says, they usually don't hold the same POI when changing magnification. Having said that though, the fixed power jobs are great value for money and they do a 8x56 job that Stab's and I had a look through at a Gun expo recently, we were both surprised at the clarity from this scope for $160 Aust. I have used a 4x32 Nikko Sterling on small rifles for 21 years now and it is great, but probably best to steer clear of the vari's.

I think the main differences are a push/pull setup for adjustments ans a better illuminated reticle.

i have a 8-32 x 60 and have not had any problems with it, obviously it isnt going to be fantastic but for the money the build quality is as good as other same price comparators, clarity good as you'd expect looking down a 30 mm tube..its no viper, bushnell, etc...but then its not the price of these either. best bargain is a second hand one, hopefully non abused , 50% cheaper... :icon_eek:
