Guest pip
Just another topic to start a bit of crack,NOT A FIGHT. WHAT MADE ME THINK OF THIS WAS A WHILE AGO WHEN I WAS ON THAT GAY SITE,SMOOCHERS,I GOT A LOT OF CRAP BECAUSE I RELEASED FOXES.I EXPLAINED THAT 90% OF THE TIME TERRIERMEN IN IRELAND HAVE HUNTED FOR SPORT.PEST CONTROL WAS A CHORE TO BE CARRIED OUT DURING THE SPRING SUMMER. WHAT I VE NOTICED IS THAT A LOT,BUT NOT ALL,ENGLISH,WELSH,SCOTCH SEEM TO KILL EVERYTHING THEY DIG.NOW I THINK THAT MAYBE A NECCESSITY BY TODAYS LAWS,BUT ,BEFORE THE BAN IN ENGLAND SAY WHAT DID MOST LADS DO AND WHY. EAMONS IN A PICKLE AND OTHER GOOD LADS OF HERE OFFERED AS MUCH DIGGING AS CAN BE DONE FOR 6-10 TERRIERS A SEASON ONLY PREREQUISITE IS ALL GAME MUST DIE. SOME OF THE LADS ARE VERY UNDECIDED ABOUT THESE OFFERS AS ITS JUST MOSTLY NOT THE DONE THING FOR OUT AND OUT TERRIERMEN TO KILL STUFF,MOST LIKE TO SEE IT RUN. I D SAY IM IN A SIMILAR POSITION AS MY BROTHER HAS LURCHERS AND WE VE STRUCK A DEAL THAT HE GETS THE DOG FOX AND THE VIXENS RUN. INTERESTED IN YOUR VIEWS FROM ALL DIOCESES Quote Link to post

cúagusgiorraí 57
From reading this old book, the practice then, at the turn of the 20th century, was to release the quarry, especially our old friend brock. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Working-Terriers-T...3324&sr=1-5 Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
I was a pest controller so in the words of the Manics..everything must go. If I'd been known to let one go then I'd be gone. Simple as that. Not to say I never though as there's nothing like an education to test your terrier. Quote Link to post
Guest whitser
i kill any foxes dug. thats why the farmers let me on their land in the first place, vermin control. Quote Link to post
Guest pip
IF THEY DON T SPECIFY THEN WE LET THEM RUN,WHY KILL ALL YOUR SPORT AND THEN RUN AROUND AFTER CHRISTMAS COMPLAINING ABOUT RIFLE MEN CAUSE YOUR NOT GETTING ANY. Quote Link to post
Guest shay
Pip I have dug in different parts of your beautiful land for a good number of years as well as the other places mentioned, I have met different pockets of lads in Eire, some good, some bad, some kill, some release, but that could be said for any country. From what I have seen a good head of game is killed in Eire (as with England scotland and Wales) especially with all the gun packs and all the lads doing the covers , im sure you know a few of them, a bunch I know got 27 the first day out last season and complained there were no foxes about One thing I have noticed in different parts of Eire there are still a lot of lads that like to use more than one dog sometimes three and four , they are generally the type to kill All or most of their game, in saying that I dont think its an Irish thing as if you read the fell and moorland resues through the seventies and eighties it seemed all the rage in England to enter three or four dogs, maybe with the Irish being light years behind us English they have just caught up to that one. Personally Im an Englishman that likes to release his game as and when I can Quote Link to post
Guest Eamon.Mc
I prefer to let game run but under watchful eyes I can't. Although I let the gunmen deal with it. Digging's my sport killing ain't. Quote Link to post
Guest pip
FELLAS I KNOW TOO KILLED SAME AMOUNT FIRST DAY SHAY,CHANCES ARE THE SAME SQUAD.ITS DIFFERENT ALL OVER BUT YOU KNOW THE TYPES OK THERES FELLAS WHO JUST LIKE THE HUNTING AND HAVE NO PARTICULAR INTEREST IN THE INDIVIDUAL CAPABILITIES OF THE DOGS JUST GETTING OUT.OTHERS WHO I WOULD TAKE MORE SERIOUSELY AS DOG MEN ARE INTERESTED IN THE INDIVIDUAL DOGS WORK AND PAY ATTENTION TO BREEDING ETC. MAYBE ITS THE LADS WHO HAVE THE TERRIERS TO PROVIDE SPORT FOR THE LURCHERS AND OTHERS AND NOT FOR THE SAKE OF WORKING TERRIERS. I VE FOUND NW AND FURTHEST SOUTH THE LADS SEEM TO BE MORE INTO THE ACTUAL WORKING TERRIER,THEN IN OTHER PARTS ITS MORE PATCHY WITH REGARDS TO STANDARDS THESE TERRIER STRONGHOLDS AS SUCH SEEM TO BE MORE CATCH AND RELEASE. INCIDENTLY THESE ARE AREAS WHERE 35 ODD YEARS AGO THE NOTABLE TERRIERCLUBS WHERE FROM. MAYBE IM WRONG JUST THINKING OUT LOUD . Quote Link to post
Guest shay
I was over last week Pip had to cut my journey short and return due to a few things. We were taken over to see a bloke who does the covers, said he wanted some game shifting we said we would oblige, what a tit he was, Mayo area, we didnt even turn into the first spot, and promptly upset him and left, he was one of the ones I was on about. One of my best lifelong mates is a keeper and gamefarmer down cork way, he kills everything, hates the things but we came across a litter of cubs in Clare and he was more than happy to leave them, they wernt bothering his pheasants Timmy is one of the soundest blokes you will get with regards to proper working and breeding I have come across over there, but there are more like him, ireland has produced some good dog men, maybe your right you have a lot of the cover boys over there where we dont and these guys usually annialate everything. Bryan 1,362
British Isles? you better tell those Cork boys you know they are British Quote Link to post
Bryan 1,362
i would think the main difference is that most Britain has much greater shooting interests and control by game keeper. In Ireland it's more usually rough shooting with few birds put on the ground and less need for strict vermin control Bryan Quote Link to post
