Spring time digging

opened a can of worms this one the facts are call outs,pest control, lambing time ect it has to be done better to get dogs the work than to lamp shoot ect .but its a fact some lads only dig spring summer when young are still in ground .then its lamping young foxes and the dogs are suddenly top class single handed fox killers . good thing is these type dunt stay into dogs for long in my experience.

Dont get me wrong I know there are a few keepers on here that is there main work at this time of year out and out vermin control but what about these other lads do they only dig when vixens are easier to find to ground at this time of year ?

so come on then gavmac who you on about????? over the last 10 pages in this section i can find 7 people who have posted regarding digging at this time of year.. my self, ragumup, rio, sounder jnr, tommy1967, eamon mc, and farmer.... in there to my knowledge theres 2 keepers, and a hunt terrierman in that list, so i look forward to your replie..

Ali if you read my post I have stated that it is part of a keepers job at this time of year, I have no problem with that and I know who the keepers are because they write it in there posts these are not the people I am talking about and its not just on this site or the internet but in general I have heard of 2 lads that were digging last week and the week before that I never heard nothing about through the winter

i hope your not on about me mate as i have 2 posts up ,and none all year, why only getting back into digging

i would be digging all year round if i was asked to do it, no keepers around here no estates or shoots,if you don't go and dig when you are asked you won't be asked again.then thats shooting lamping gone to ,i won't be told by you when i can dig, if you don't like digging post don't read them at this time of year mate we have a job to do here if you like doing in winter fair play i have dig lot this year with lads here all winter but there not my terriers he posts on smoochers not here sounder

there only 3 crews thats dig here scent and we can dig all year round they be on abouts our post i have read post new permission one farm, i have 30 farms here and in other townslands around me i never be without digging ground here ya i can only dig in winter if i want but why because they want me to dig anytime and i get to keep the permission,there is more lads hunting in england than here a say make me think why all these lads getting new permission over there is because some other lad is not doing there job when they have to,

 

also i have a young lad, well 2 young lads one 6 the other nearly 2 but they get the land in years to come hopefully if they stay at it, we all work and save money for kids so they have it, collage, car, whatever why not land in the same way

some of the best terrier men i know wouldent dream of digging cubs, but when a farmer you've known for years and spent years hunting his land

ask's you to deal with a litter of game bird killing cubs what do you do?.

you get the cubs. if you dont he'll get one of the gun boys in to do the job, shoot the parents and cubs will die anyway.

 

if your a honest and dedicated terrier man things like cubs is the last thing on your mind, but at times cub jobs must be done

like it or not, but as the days get longer you do see some doing the rounds with terriers, that other wise you wouldent see.

i live in ireland not england theres no ban here, it depends on the farmer if he wants them gone i dig to kill

other places i do most would be let run again, if we had a young lurcher we would give it the run and hopefully the kill
