gavmac 0
Has anyone else noticed that the past month or so lads you never hear a peep out of all through the winter all of a sudden are putting up posts about this dig and that dig when there are cubs . Dont get me wrong I know there are a few keepers on here that is there main work at this time of year out and out vermin control but what about these other lads do they only dig when vixens are easier to find to ground at this time of year ? Guest rio
in my area you get alot of summer lampers who lamp all summer and sell thier dogs in the winter we only go out if farmer asks us to have a look around we have had 4 call outs so far delt with 3 on the lamp and 1 with the terriers if you get asked to deal with a problem you cant say no but im not for going out digging cubs for the sake of it Quote Link to post
Guest Eamon.Mc
I had the luck of falling in with a shooting syndicate in March both them and a lot of the surrounding farmers are wanting stuff moved on, went out for a few weeks moved some stuff went out last week but never entered the dog anywhere, the syndicate were out setting snares the other day and were out with rifles and lamp last night, they shot 2 foxes don't know if they were vixens or dog foxes. I've tried to put my argument accross without being to condemning or cheeky but they've said they don't want any pheseant thieves about when they bring in their new birds for next season. In some ways I see their point, they are paying money for birds, paying for feed and the right to shoot them, I've been lucky to get my permission for free, but if they find something to ground and want it gone then I'm afraid I'm gonna have to do it. If I don't they will just get someone else who will. Hard fact but that's the way it is. Personaly I don't like digging after end of Feb beginning of March never have this is the first year I have dug on that's due to the nature of the permission. Quote Link to post
gavmac 0
We have all had to do it there is no lad on here that works terriers can say they havent like I said out and out vermin control but some lads just seem to dig when theres cubs in the ground. Quote Link to post

Guest pip
Time to start thinking like the Englishman inside you Eamon .You have to do it in that case rather than lose your permission. I d dig pests when asked off course but hunting for sport ,for me,ends when the first cubs arehit, end of feb mostly. Quote Link to post
