I quite fancy starting to do home loads for my .22/250 as I have just taken on the rights to a 570 acre forest for roe and fox shooting and will be shooting more than i have in the past.

Can any one please recommend me some literature to read, web sites to look at or programmes / dvd's to watch to increase my knowledge on the subject?

There are also 7 established duck ponds n the ground so i may start reloading my 12 bore for ducks as well so again any recommendations greatly received.

Cheers.

I posted this reply in another topic.

""I reload for 12 bore, Duck and Goose shells in the main, I also reload for my 8 bore but thats a bit different.

I shoot steel from the 12 bore in 2 3/4, 3 and 3 1/2 inch shells, some of the 3 1/2" shells travel at 1700 fps.

If you want to shoot normal stuff then I would say the cost of setting up and the amount of shells shot would not justify the costs. If you are looking to shoot duck and goose then yes it is as the shells are so expensive.

If you are interested, as it is good fun and can be addictive, have a look at www.midwayuk.com, or clay/game reloaders(dont know the website),www.peterlawman.co.uk for powders and primers, but it is best to ring him, there are quite a few sites with reloading gear on them, google search sounds good.

I have a Lee Load-All II in 12 bore and it does for me, some of the 3 1/2" shells are tricky but do-able. This cost around £40,

The Steel shot costs £26 for 10lb bag. The powder is expensive, about £30 for a 1lb tub of Alliant Steel Powder(what I use).

Wads are cheap, Primers are cheap and cases can be found at any clay ground or game shoot.

You will need a good reloading manual too, something like Lyman. Buy one of these first and see what loads you want to do, then decide on the components you need.""
