Browning Medalist 20 bore selling it

personally I like mil dots but also dont mind the ordinary crosshair. The bigger the objective lens the better the light gathering will be but some scopes are designed to gather as much light as possible, I have just bought a Swarovski Z6i 2-12x50 and it gathers light extremely well, another I can thing of off the top of my head is the Nikko Stirling Nighteater.

is the nikko nighteater a good scope and will it hold its zero on a 22.250 also are they clear optics

A mate used to have one on his, got a Schmidt and Bender now, and he never had any trouble with it, it is a good scope for the money, you should have no problems with good mounts with this scope.

You could try here http://www.litts.co.uk, they have the range, if youre existing mounts are 25mm and so is the scope you want then no need to change, if the new scope is 30mm then you will need the same width mounts as you have now only in 30mm.

i cant see them i also ment the width of the mounts that go on to the rail on the gun as its only mounts not rings and bases thanks

Try this one http://www.litts.co.uk/product_detail.php?id=2021.

This link has the dovetail measurement as 0.7" which i believe is 19mm. http://cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=18

Best thing if you can is go to a shop to buy mounts and take the gun with you.

I have heard conflicting reports on the nighteater but as I say I have had no problems. If I were you I would save as much as possible for the centrefire and see what you can get, how much you thinking?

i was looking to spend up to £400 or £500 for a new or good secondhand one if you think the nikko would hold its zero i would consider one of those

For that sort of money I would be looking at the Leupold VX III, something like a 4.5-14x50. These are excellent scopes and, in my view, will give more piece of mind on a centrefire. If your looking second hand then I imagine you could pick up a very decent high mag Swarovski or Zeiss, but the Leupold is perfectly adequate.

I've one of those  I can put you onto an Ebay seller who does good deals on them if you'd like. The one problem with them is the eye relief is fussy. Mount the rifle properly you're fine, if you don't you'll need to move your head to get it exactly right. But a very very good scope otherwise, go the Boone & Crockett reticle on mine and it's plenty good for centrefire work from lamping to crow sniping to salking on the appropriate rifles.

And there's me thinking there would only be two people in this thread :laugh:

I quite agree John, I have shot through one on the lamp and it is an excellent scope, I nearly bought one for the .222, but I got tempted away by the FAD of a new Swarovski. As you said in another post, spend as much as you can't afford on a new scope.

Either of these makes will do you well.

Regards

SS
