barrym3 11
personally I like mil dots but also dont mind the ordinary crosshair. The bigger the objective lens the better the light gathering will be but some scopes are designed to gather as much light as possible, I have just bought a Swarovski Z6i 2-12x50 and it gathers light extremely well, another I can thing of off the top of my head is the Nikko Stirling Nighteater. is the nikko nighteater a good scope and will it hold its zero on a 22.250 also are they clear optics Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
You could try here http://www.litts.co.uk, they have the range, if youre existing mounts are 25mm and so is the scope you want then no need to change, if the new scope is 30mm then you will need the same width mounts as you have now only in 30mm. This link has the dovetail measurement as 0.7" which i believe is 19mm. http://cz-usa.com/product_detail.php?id=18 Best thing if you can is go to a shop to buy mounts and take the gun with you. SportingShooter 0
x50 will need high mounts. Quote Link to post
barrym3 11
x50 will need high mounts. so is the nikko sterling a suitable scope or would i be better saving a little more and getting a hopefully half decent secondhand scope Quote Link to post
SportingShooter 0
I have heard conflicting reports on the nighteater but as I say I have had no problems. If I were you I would save as much as possible for the centrefire and see what you can get, how much you thinking? Quote Link to post

SportingShooter 0
For that sort of money I would be looking at the Leupold VX III, something like a 4.5-14x50. These are excellent scopes and, in my view, will give more piece of mind on a centrefire. If your looking second hand then I imagine you could pick up a very decent high mag Swarovski or Zeiss, but the Leupold is perfectly adequate. Quote Link to post

I've one of those I can put you onto an Ebay seller who does good deals on them if you'd like. The one problem with them is the eye relief is fussy. Mount the rifle properly you're fine, if you don't you'll need to move your head to get it exactly right. But a very very good scope otherwise, go the Boone & Crockett reticle on mine and it's plenty good for centrefire work from lamping to crow sniping to salking on the appropriate rifles. SportingShooter 0
And there's me thinking there would only be two people in this thread I quite agree John, I have shot through one on the lamp and it is an excellent scope, I nearly bought one for the .222, but I got tempted away by the FAD of a new Swarovski. As you said in another post, spend as much as you can't afford on a new scope. Either of these makes will do you well. Regards SS Quote Link to post
Guest JohnGalway
Out of those two mentioned I'd go Swaro over Loopy every time Quote Link to post
