Introducing ferrets

Hey guys,

Im new to ferrets and need some help. I started off with a Hob about 6 months ago, he is now larger and stronger. I recently bought him a freind, a 8 week old jill that is now 10 weeks. Im not sure when to put them in the cage together or what to expect.

I have read as much as possible but im hoping someone has had the same experience, When I let them play and check each other out on the grass, the Hob picks my Jill up by the scruff and runs off with her. He doesnt stop just keeps going

When i grab him by the scruff he still holds her and doesnt let go until i open his mouth. The bites are not dangerous just strange.

Im wondering if anyone can tell me whats happening please,

thanks for ya help :good:

I,ve just introduced a hob and jill to an existing jill, The hob has been castrated which will make a big difference, but I always allow mine the freedom of the garage for an hour or so a day to socialise and play, after a couple of hours the exploration was over and they settled down fine.

As for Millet not experiencing hobs dragging jills around by the scruff of the neck I can tell you he is lying. Where he comes from that is standard courting between male and female humans :D

Thanks guys,  Maybe when the Jill is older she can then hold her own abit better.  I will give her another month or so

Thanks again

My oldest hob tries to carry kits about hes better with them than the jills hes been castrated and acts a bit gay ive never known of a full hob doing it. Ive found some of my adult ferrets dont get on with others but have always been playfull or motherd the kits.

Is the kit distressed or anything when he does it?

The Kit takes it without winging for a while. He will carry her a couple of meters and she doesnt mind. After a couple of meters and obstacles that the hob crosses it anoyes her abit and she starts to winge and nip back. Then he just stops and doesnt let go,
