IMO when a terrier is worked hard on a mill it leaves the terrier hyper and highly strung. To use a mill properly the dog should be walked first untill it emptys and then walked after it's mill work 'till it cools down. If you don't empty the dog first you'll just boil the piss in it's kidneys while it's on the mill.

Lets face it ,if a terrier has a good sized pen and gets a bit of exercise every day ie. a 40 minute road walk or an hours mooching, most terriers would be plenty fit for most terrier men.

We've got one of them treadmills that are powered by you walking here. Do you have to do anything to them or can a dog use a standard one ? If So any tips ?

Wouldnt mind getting my ebt on one :)

Butch

put sand paper on the tread, easy to grip kees nails down and toughens pads, but thereis no comparison to a walk, most terriers i have owned will bush there selves fit

any one who does have a tread mill for terriers not running dogs, they are a 100% evidence catagory that the rspca use against dog fighters they wont care that its for the well fare of the dog there narrow minded views will just brand you a dog fighter

OVER THE YEARS I HAVE USED BOTH SLAT MILLS, AND ELECTRIC MILLS TO KEEP MY DOGS FIT, I STILL USE THEM EVEN TO DAY I HAD MY DOGS ON THEM. BELOW IS A PICTURE OF MY DOG" BRUNO" USING A SLAT MILL I MADE A FEW YEARS BACK.

I thought the treadmills were a bit noisy, built a table free running

all you need ply board cut into circle of size, carpet [to stop the dog slipping] a wheel rim,car axle

half of in the ground half up and a good friend with a welder!!!! hope this helps you

couple of pics on pc cant get them on!! newbie!!!!!!!!!!!!

all the best

i use a treadmill for my american bulldog... he loves it and the problem i have is getting him off it... as has been pointed out, let him piss before he goes on and i tend to leave him going at a slower pace to warm up and to cool down...brilliant tool for conditioning, my jrt will run on it if asked but needs a bit of stimulation to be happy on there...i use an electric mill and find that as long as your there to keep an eye on him 100 percent of the time then theres no problem...good luck... :gunsmilie:
