Sako/Tikka Scope mounts...

Recommended Posts

I already have a Tikka and I'm going to invest in some new hardware soon.

Sako and Tikka are on the list to think about at the moment, but I absolutely hate and detest the Optilock Scope mounts....and they are not cheap.

Not sure what scope I will get yet but does anyone have a Tikka/Sako without Optilock mounts..if so what are you using and are you happy with them.

Cheers!

we have a tikka with leupold mounts and rings mounts are adjustable and not very expensive, have had no bother with zero shift either

as land rover says also warne and weaver do sako/tikka.why dont you like the optilck rings? iv got some on a m595 in 17 rem had them since i bought the gun[9 yrs now been rebarreled 18 months] and put 4 scopes on and not an issue with any one ,each to his own.

Optilock......

ONE mounting point between base and ring means its very very difficult to mount them both absolutely straight...and at around £100 a set I expect better engineering and design!

£20-£30 Pro mounts on the Air Rifle and Rimmy seem MUCH better to me but they don't make them for the Sako/Tikka!

DEKER.if thats your problem get yourself a lapping bar for truing the rings square to the bases they are the best way to mount a scope and take any discreppancies out of the rings.

You can't...the screw holding mount a base together is UNDER the mount so you have to adjust everything OFF the gun!!!

It should have a 2 point mounting system between mount and ring..at that price I expect good design and accurate engineering..this system has an obvious flaw!!!

Thanks for the ideas guys..Ive been digging around on the web and found complete mounting systems less than half the price of Optilock..got to be worth a try!

Cheers

Sorry just picked this up. Totally agree these mounts are so exspensive, and having a Sako 75 you do not have many options on mounts. On e-bay you can buy Optilock for £53 from Bagnall & Kirkwood Newcastle they trade on e-bay as a1tackleshop, postage is cheap. Sorry if this info is to late, but it might help somebody else.

Cheers
