Guest WILF
No takers for that question?....................lol Quote Link to post
zap 4
because a fox is a pest and a hare is sport plus leverets are about and if you kill a doe your killing a few leverets too o shut the f**k up so hares aint a pest lol and if you kill a vixen this time of year there cubs will manage to survive on there own lol open your eyes mate on my mates place you could go out and see 2-3 hundred hares any day of the week blues and browns not a pest eh Quote Link to post
SMOGGY 34
If there was a huge number of hares and the land owner requested it, well then i would, but to be honest it would only mean i hadn't do a proper job in the winter to control the numbers, hare dont breed like rabbits some it much easier to control number, you have to get the balance right between sport and pest control. If you take too many out in summer when its easy pickings you soon find you have none left for winter, and even most farmers like to see the odd one now and again Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
if you want a hand with those pests zap let me know Quote Link to post

tote 856
I would still be interested to know if the guys who wont hunt Hare in the spring/summer would do so if asked by the permission owner...........especially if the choice was do it or someone else will? If that was the only two choices WILF would the answer not be obvious? Especially if you had limited permission. Quote Link to post
zap 4
if you want a hand with those pests zap let me know had a few lads out on the place and they had a good day one from wales was shocked to see as many as he never see,s any his way which in that case fare do let them be in summer but for the numbers up that way you would struggle to get on top of them as every estate for miles is covered in them Quote Link to post
Guest WILF
Aye, it would......... The point of the question is, the circumstances dont really matter.............if you would, then you would. Which also means that folk cant put down other lads that are doing it. Now I dont mean this in a funny way at all, but it is strange that the members who were so quick to jump down the lad that is lampings throat, have been so slow to give a reply to that question. Meerihunter 7
I've been asked to run hare's off brussel fields where they do real damage hopping down the drills nipping the heart out the plant and its knackered. I'll be killing rabbits year round, some will be pregnant, some will be nursing, some will very young. I've been hitting the rabbits hard all winter and the sowing are still covered with them should tell the farmer I'm going to leave them to breed so I have more sport next season?. Some places are over run with Hares and the same goes. The Estate we live on you hardly see a Hare through the winter , spring comes along and they are everywhere. Not condoning it but in some situations it's needs to be done, the countryside is not some hunting theme for us simply to enjoy, it has to be productive. SMOGGY 34
so what your saying is that everone does abad job of controlling foxses due to the fact on how many people on here are killing vixens with cubs and dog foxses. not naming any names on here thou no i'm not saying that, i didn't mention foxes, but again foxes are different, some farmers and especilly keepers would say one fox on your land is to many, other dont mind the odd one. on my dads farm he doesn't mind the odd one, but we know for a fact due to the last snow a couple of days a go there will be nothing in the area for quite a while but on the other side of the arguement for a lot of keepers / farmers now is the best time as the foxes have their terroity set, remove your foxes now its a while before they'll start moving in, kill a fox during winter the next one moves straight in. it's all down to the individual Quote Link to post
bigdan 11
i dont hunt for sport for food or if asked i dont like to run a hare this time of year but if i needed food i would i dont really hunt fox but would kill cubs if i was asked there pest usally i dont hunt fox i cant eat it if i had any pups comeing on i would run them to bring them on but it does my head in when people say me dog got 3 out of 3 today [in the summer]hardly a challenge for a dog of any sort of ability Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
For a pup I would run leverets and even kick them if they ran past me :11: Quote Link to post
