Guest traceyg
Just thought I would show you froo my ferruginous buzzard I have one of those houses were all the ways and strays find there way to. So it was no surprise when my partner rang me at work to say there was something in the aviary wanting looking after. I was a little shocked when I got home as laying there was the most beautiful bird I have ever seen, It was a ferruginous buzzard yes as i said she was lying down. The reason for this is her pads on her feet was so badly infected and sore she couldn’t stand So the first thing I did was get on the internet joined a falconry forum and got some advice of the men who know what there on about .i was lucky enough for one of them to visit. At first it was thought the bird had bumble foot But lucky for me it wasn’t the reason for the sore feet was her talons had grown so much they had punchered her feet. Causing infection .so the next job the vet .He was fantastic put her straight on antibiotics cut her talons, and bathing daily and slowly we began to see a improvement. Regular vet check ups more antibiotics and some tlc Froo was standing she soon got used to us and is so sweet. But now the hard bit… I have done all I can do for froo she now needs to be out more on the perch and enjoying the summer .I Feel its unfair for me to keep her as we have lots of animals (dogs, cats, pigeons) so her time out of the aviary is limited so a new home has been found and she will leave me in 2weeks.This makes me feel so sad but I know she deservers more then I can offer .And iam so very lucky to have been given a chance to help her At the time I got froo the person who had left them to grow had been dealt with and will never have a bird again but I went through all that at the time and this post isn’t about the past http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa318/t...ebaypics320.jpg Quote Link to post
Rolfe 2
Well done Tracey for your time and effort in restoring Froo back to health.......i know you have put in a lot of hard work to get her fit and all credit to you. Sadly the time has come for her to go and i know you will have a heavy heart watching her go, but as you point out she deserves more attention than you can now give her. Just make sure she goes to a permanent loving home. Rolfe. Quote Link to post
