my pup has got green gunge leaking from his todger, at first i thought it was the norm, (just a little bit on the end) i'm sure you know what i mean, anyway, its not as if its dripping or any thing, but it just seems to be a lot, it might be nothing, i hope so, or its a trip to the vets, any advise would be good. cheers all.................jack

A good start would be to pull the sheath back and give it a good clean (watch it, he won't like it), with cotton wool and warm clean water, using a clean piece each time. If it continues thereafter a course of antibiotics may be in order.

They used to call it 'gleet' in Greyhound circles. It's usually just a slight bacterial infection: very common. Treatment then as now (and it does work) is as follows.......... Dilute a capful of TCP 50/50 with warm water. Fill a syringe (with no needle), fill the sheath, holding it shut round the syringe as you do so. Still holding it shut squish the liquid up and down so it gets into the furthest reaches round his willy, then let it drain. Repeat, mop dry (if you feel so inclined :tongue2: ) Repeat for 2 or 3 days. Should do the trick. If the problem persists then see a vet.

Very common..unlikely to be a urine infection though..wash the area throughly with cool boiled water and salt (1tsp to 1pt of water)..best thing is Streptopen Milking Cow to sort this..but sluicing the area with salt water should sort it out if you dont want to take him to the vet.

Same as Skycat, but it's easier to make a bit more dilute TCP, soak a clean cloth in the liquid, pull the old skin back and give the lipstick pencil a good wash, some dogs hate this and some seem to get a twinkle in their eye, but it'll clean it up right enough.
