Hopkins tried every trick in the book to con the judges but luckily the truth prevailed.I had Hopkins winning round 1 by a 10-8 then he won round 3 and round 9.How the f*ck can a man going backwards landing less than 10 punches a round win the fight FFS.Joe adapted as many said he couldn't and did the job,i had it 117- 111 Calzaghe. The so called low blow was shown to be on the waistband, and even when confronted by the video replay Hopkins couldn't speak the truth.I ranked Hopkins very highly but his dirty tricks and lack of humility have changed my mind,he was beat hands down, yet still whined about the result and thought he won the fight comfortably :clapper: He'd obviously been watching "Fraudley" reruns :clapper: Well done Joe,i thought you did a number on Bernard tonight, not vintage Calzaghe, but what can a man do when his opponent grabs and holds for 2.30 of every round. As i predicted Cortez showed himself to be a fraud,in the Hatton fight he stopped Hatton fighting inside at every opportunity, yet tonight he alllowed Hopkins to use his head and elbows at will, without punishment, and all credit to Joe he never once complained.

WELL DONE JOE!! and never mind the knockers, you did what you had to do.

Edited to add.

in my opinion after a shakey start and obviously losing the 1st round the next three were much of a muchness with joe seemimgly wary of loosening up and finding it hard to get his handspeed working, but after the 4th he relaxed and was far to fast for hopkins who was coming in with the head repeatedly. he knew he was beat thats why he was complaining so much about low blows, it was never a classic as hopkins tactics dictated this. joes workrate was far to much for hopkins and imo he won on points easy, cant believe on of the judges gave it him. well done joe.

A fair and honest appraisal Max  Having watched the fight 3 times now,Joes winning margin has grown each time. :notworthy:

I was really pleased to see a fair and correct decision...i was sure beforehand that if it went to a close decision hopkins would get the nod...but for once the outcome was spot on even if the scorecards were somewhat strange....personally i had it 115-113 for Joe....although the punch stats show joe landing so many more punches in pro boxing unlike amateur stats dont score points....i dont buy into this " slapping " calzaghe punches,BUT the fact is a punch that does not land with the knuckle part of the glove will not go down as a scoring punch even though it will count on the stats sheet as a landed punch....hence why i could understand a judge not scoring as wide a decision as the stats suggest.

I had hopkins 2 rounds in front going into the 9th but i felt joe won the last 4 rounds clearly....it was a poor fight and a clash of styles,i felt joe was too hesitant and a lot of his attacks were poor.....he beat lacy attacking from angles but he just attacked hopkins in straight lines which made it easy for hopkins to tie him up.....hopkins for me landed the more telling punches up to half way but he definately ran out of steam in the second half of the fight and joe got on top with superior energy.......great win for calzaghe, hopkins embarrassed himself with his comments afterwards.....i nearly missed it after falling asleep during the harrison fight !
