francolin 449
for me a good bitch is priceless. i always prefer to keep bitches cos its always possible to get a good stud dog, plus i think they are better to work. i lost a bitch a few years back and i havent been able to replace her. i've a dog at the moment, if and when he's lined to a bitch i'll keep a bitch back.as for you post, you should only breed your best bitch to your best dog. WHY WHITSER WOULD ANYONE DO ANY DIFFERENT,I CAN T UNDERSTAND IT LADS I KNOW SUPPOSEDLY HARD TO PLEASE HAVE BEEN BREEDING OF AND ARE PLANNING TO BREED OF BITCHES THAT HAVE WALKED OUT???YET IF THE DOGS AREN T UP TO HIGH STANDARD THEY CULL EM ???? ITS NOT LIKE IV E ALWAYS THOUGHT THIS AS IV E ALWAYS KEPT DOGS BUT I VE BEEN HEARING OF FELLAS BREEDING OF MEDIOCRE BITCHES AND THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THAT THEY EXPECT BITCHES TO BE LESSER ANIMALS,WITH THE ODD EXEPTION.THATS UNTIL I MET MY MATE WHO HAS EXCELLANT 100% BITCHES AND WE ENDED UP BREEDING A LITTER WITH DECENT BITCHES TOO,UNRELATED BY THE WAY.TURNED OUT THE BITCHES IN QUESTION WHERE JACKING,YET WORKED TO A CERTAIN DEGREE SO IT SEEMS THE LADS HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO BREED OF THE MEDIOCRE FEMALES. THE PUNCH LINE IS WHEN I WAS TALKING TO THE FELLAS WITH THE SUBSTANDARD FEMALES HE MADE OUT HE WAS JUST USING THE FEMALES FOR A DIFFERENT RTYPE OF WORK,THATS UNTIL I FOUND OUT THE BITCHES WHERE MAKING THE CHOICE. PRIDES A CAT THING. breeding of bitches that walked out WHY if a bitch is handy its worth keeping for some spots if it comes of certain game ect but breeding of these its a move in wrong direction surely aint it . howard 0
Amongst the bolting baying type a bitch is at an advantage but when you are wanting to dig to or kill foxes a bitch is up against it i expect the bitches in this thread that do well as game bitches are probably up a bit in size, game doggie bitches there the ones to breed from JMHO.In the rough and tumble size does definatly matter. Suppose its a stupid question but do they make old bones? RIPSTOP, ITS NOT A STUPIT QUESTION, I HAVE DUG SOME OF MY DOGS AT TEN YEARS OLD, BUT WHEN THEY REACH THAT AGE I TEND TO LEAVE THEM AT HOME AND PUT MORE TIME IN TO THE YOUNG DOGS. THEM OLD DOGS BRING BACK GREAT MEMORIES OF DIGS AND CRACK WE HAD, ALWAYS NICE TO SEE AN OLD DOG IN A TERRIERS MANS YARD, IN MY EYES IT SHOWS RESPECT AND ITS A TERRIERMANS WAY OF SAYING TO THE OLD DOG, THANKS FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS / GOOD OLD DIGS !! Guest shay
Some good posts lads and some nice bitches. I have always favoured bitches and found them easier to manage. Just a few I have owned/had/bred I cant really comment on much that hasnt already been said. Tilly owned and bred by Pickaxe, I have only dug 19 off this bitch this season but had some excellent do's she is definately in the top 5 dogs I have ever seen. This is Shay taken in the early 90's A very hard bitch and a very good finder, she couldnt be faulted and due to her being mine I would say she is in the top 3 dogs I have seen These were two owned by a lad I have dug with for the last 16yr, he had them when we first met, mother and daughter and both top class. One very very game bitch, I dug 23 off her season before last, she is now back with her owner and hopefully in pup to a very good Parkes dog. Quote Link to post
