harddigging 42
i must agree i do think alot off people have a lower standard for bitches than dogs why i dont know set a standard and stick to it dog or bitch. i personally prefer to keep bitches but will keep dogs a workers a worker. i also think that more dogs turn out than bitches for exsample if you had a well bred litter off eight pups four dogs four bitches id be happy if four turned out up to scratch but out off them id bet youd only be left with one bitch the other three being dogs thats just my opinion im sure theres people that disagree but that is why i think people settle for a lower standard in bitches because there harder to come by a top class bitch. Guest Eamon.Mc
Why is it that bitch pups are always more expensive? Maybe it's just breedings I've seen or herd of but there's usualy more dogs thrown than bitches, should pups not cost the same whether dog or bitch? Or is it trying to make that extra coin? spindolero 1,110
i see size of bitches keeps coming up. maybe unrelated, but my mate found when he breeds his pigeons line tight, you can get the cock birds spot on , but the hens get smaller each breeding??? Quote Link to post
Guest pip
I personally like a big bitch, but the old lads i ve been hunting with who had access to all areas of digging didn t think sizewas of importance, they reckoned if a dog was going to sound and hold stuff in the pot size was irrelevant, however if you ve a bitch who s going to grips and is going to try to bully or grip then obviousely they need to be of a certain build to come on equal terms. Line breeding ,from what i know has that effect, and bitches seem to suffer more, poor heads etc. From a personal point of view i think i could be doing with losing a bit of size in my bitch pup[bred back to her da]she s about 15+ inch and well over the 20Ib mark,10 monthes old???She d need to impress in all areas OR she just won t be practical. swanseajack 227
I'd just like to say that I think from experience bitches are more genuine and not so argumentative, always have kept bitches and the failures I've had have been dogs, I keep bedlingtons by the way and size of the bitches has always been a major factor, saying that I do have a dog as well at the moment and he's earning his keep... My bitch Milly, one of the hardest I've owned... Quote Link to post
Guest pip
As i said to you before S J only ever heard of the one beddy about here, did nt last too long from what i hear, extremely hard. Quote Link to post
Waz 4,252
i see size of bitches keeps coming up.maybe unrelated, but my mate found when he breeds his pigeons line tight, you can get the cock birds spot on , but the hens get smaller each breeding??? Heard this from a few different folk re terriers. Time will tell with the bitches ive got here, one of em is floating my boat. But there again ive always preferred dogs. Quote Link to post
