redmoor 0
Metacam is good too..perhaps not quite as harsh on the stomach as Rimadyl..also easier to dose more acurately as it comes in liquid form..both are NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatories). You can get either from an on-line pet pharmacy as long as you have a prescription from your Vet. Worth remembering that for now Vets are not allowed to charge to write a prescription. Neither of these drugs can be bought without a prescription as they are POMs.

Neither of these drugs can be bought without a prescription as they are POMs. I've seen more adverse reactions to metacam than to rimadyl. Bear in mind, that although you won't be charged for the prescription, you may be charged for the initial examination, or "medicines determination fee". We're not allowed to prescribe POM-V's for an animal without having a knowledge of that animal (so don't get pissed off when you ask or a prescription for something, and are told that you can't have one without the animal being examined) Jim

Scallywag 78
As far as Metacam and Rymadil go, some dogs do better on one than the other, so you might need to try both and see which your dog reacts best to. I've heard of some dogs gaining no benefit at all from one but doing well on the other, if you see what I mean.

Pignut 4
For bumps, to get the bruising out, use arnica cream or pillules. You can buy this over the counter in Boots and most chemists. It does help. The pillules are very easy to give as the dog hardly thinks he has taken anything - they are small enough to be put under the lip. I don't use arnica cream on open wounds as you are just introducing more gunk rather than promoting healing. Also rescue remedy for shock is excellent (for both human and dog!).
