Scurlogue Champ

The car VGreyhound thread reminded me of this fella - the great Scurlogue Champ- I was involved in the Greyhound scene at the time, and had the priveledge to see him race twice, Allways last out of the traps, and looking like a lost cause on the first and second bends, he always seemed to dig deep at the end and blow the opposition away on the last straight.

Can't help thinking, he could have sired some crackin Lurchers.

 

For those who have seen him, have another look.

Wow that dog is amazing! Never seen anything like that. Did he do that in all of his races???

 

What do you think made him do that? Is it intellegence? Reserving energy because he new where the final straight was?

i have never seen a greyhound with that much stamina before did he win many races like that.where did he race?

he ran at powderhall so did ballyregan bob in the eighties was a keen race goer with cousins etc every sat we would go and watch and they had some good derby nites there

Although I had watched the first two clips I still thought he had blown it in the 3rd race, then he just kicked in again.

not knocking the dog but saw him run a whitwood in invertation race

and dogs got that far in front of him he stopped

wasnt 100 per cent to me just a chaser

not the same level as bob who could lead and win from the front
