I have had bed/ whipt and beddy/ greyhound crosses for the last thirty years they are fantastic rabbit dogs :) altough they are to small for fox the little buggers will get stuck in given the chance. if you want a dog for both i would suggest you go for a beddy greyhound cross or hiybred they make good fox dogs.personal choice i would go for a bitch i find that they come on a fair bit quicker than dogs. although i have not owned one i hear good things about the dogs bred from the poachers pocket kennels. :good:

My first cross beddy whippet is 22" and easily the best rabbiting dog I've owned. Amazing nose, nippy as hell with bolters and game as can be - she did a 3/4 grown cub a few months back on her own (couldn't get her to let the damned thing go! :realmad: ) The only faults I've found are:

A) When she's hunting something, f*ck what I say - she's hunting! and she'll be back once she's done, thank you very much (bit of a pisser when ya need her back rapido  ;) )

B) When lamping, she has a tendency to keep her nose to the ground rather than look down the beam, but as this is her first season of lamping (ferreting being my main thing) I gues it'll come.

Hi, has anyone got any decent fotos of a bedlington whippet and could anyone who has experience of them tell me how good they would be for rabbits? Cheers

alright mate i have a little 20in bed/whippet 1st x blue dog about 30lbs but he thinks hes 28in and 80lb,hes only had one fox doubled up with my mates bed/grey x deer/grey 12 month old pup but my bed/whip had to do the majority of the work as the young bitch backed off a little as she got a couple of nips.

i honestly can,t knock this little cross for ferriting/lamping and day time mouching,i wish i could send you some photos of my little dog but i haven,t sussed it out yet,but if your only hunting the nimble coney this x will be spot on :good:

the beddyxwhippet is an excellent dog the perfect size for rabbits,in my opinion.big enough without being a massive looking dog i have a bitch beddyxwhippet and have just bought a pure bred bedlington pupto ensure i can breed good stock in the future :good:

Happy new year everyone!! My resolution was to not get involved in controversy on hunting site forums, but I'm allready going to break it! Every bed/ whippett 1st cross I have seen has been far to small to be much good at owt bar bushing and no better than a terrier or spaniel. I must admit I've never seen a 22" 1st cross, so there may be some good un's out there. A bed/ grey or bed/whippet x grey, in my opinion is a far better option. I must stress this is only my opinion, my own pup has bed/grey/deer/whippett in her so I have nothing against Bed Xs.

Cheers.
