Guest ripstop
What do people think are a good foot on lurcher crosses. A lot say Saluki, which are tough, but what about collie xs, german shep xs, whippet xs, beddy xs, bull xs, whippet xs, terrier xs etc, or is a mix of say collie whippet grey or a mix of two or more dogs, i know every dog is different - so lets hear your opinions. ID THINK ANY DOG WILL HAVE GOOD FEET SOLONG AS IT IS NOT ABUSED AND WORKED ALL DAYY EVERY DAY I HAD A 6 YEAR OLD SALUKI CROSS WITH FEET NEAR TO PERFECT THEN SHE ONLY RAN QUARY 2 MAY BE 3 TIMES A WEEK IN SEASON! Guest smashygadge
my collie grey copes with most ground heavy footed but never been a problem and not one been cut Quote Link to post
Guest ripstop
my collie grey copes with most ground heavy footed but never been a problem and not one been cut Aye it all depends upon what ground, what conditions and how much graft they see. I had a saluki bull grey, never even got to run him as he was smashed before i got him, and only 2 and a half, mind he was run into the ground, me being naive, never again, but you live and learn. The 2 ive got at the minute seem to have fair enough feet for pups, so will have to wait a couple of years to see how they fair up. Quote Link to post
Neal 1,873
I think a lot is also down to the greyhound, whippet etc used too. All the lurchers I've ever had have been either Beardie, Border Collie or Kelpie based but the ones with the best feet were those from coursing lines. Having said that, that assumption is based on a very small number of dogs so could merely be coincidence. Quote Link to post

Well i would say, colliexgrey, or a salukixgrey. A working collie as to handle all kinds of terrain, from rugged mountain's , flint, in the U.K. Collies work all over the world, in hot country as well. The saluki x, they have good feet as well. For me i would go for the colliex, its more of a rugged type of lurcher, especially the 1x collie grey. BIRD Quote Link to post
Stabs 3
Never had bother with my beardie cross's feet and we've run all terrain Quote Link to post
Guest ripstop
Theres some rough and rocky terrain there Stabs, dogs gonna need good paws for that type of land, never really seen a beardie in the flesh, funny that cause me mother of 73 has seen a fair few Quote Link to post
