HELLO ALL

THIS IS MY FIRST POST SO IF I HAVE GOT IT IN THE WRONG PLACE OR GOT IT WRONG - SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE - I DO A SMALL AMOUNT OF PEST CONTROL FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS - MAINLY IN THE FORM OF LIVE TRAPS FOR FOX AND LARSEN TRAPS FOR MAGPIES - BOTH OF WHICH I HAVE GOT QUITE GOOD AT - I ALSO DO A BIT OF ROE STALKING BUT ONLY FOR MY OWN FREEZER.

I HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER THAT HAS A GARDEN WITH 4 JAYS IN IT - THEY ARE CREATING HAVOC WITH THE SMALL BIRDS AND THEY ARE TO BE REMOVED - LARSEN AND RABIT TRAPS HAVE BEEN IN USE ON THIS SITE FOR FOUR YEARS - THE MAGPIES ARE SORTED BUT NOT THE JAYS - ANYONE KNOW OF ANY IRRISISTABLE BATE - SHOOTING WOULD NOT BE AN OPTION.

THANK YOU

RACHEL

Used to get quite a few pairs in the old style wire mesh" lobster pot"pheasant catchers baited with wheat .As jays are great seed eaters everyones suggestion of maize seems a good one or even peanuts? Pity these jays of yours are up to no good I reckon they are one of our most beautifull birds.

Funnily enough Jay's were the first two birds caught in the larsen at my place. I put out brown bread, in and around the trap as bait, and a nest of eggs in one side. They went for the bread. Now use them as call birds as they make a good racket!

I never went out of my way to control them, as the gaffer liked to have them about. The guns often shot them on shoot days.

But I also caught a pair in a larsen, set for magpies, with eggs and a fake neast as bait. Plus the magpie call bird with rabbit as its food.

May have been luck?? Dont know, as ive never had to trap them.

Squirrel trap sounds an excellent idea, good luck!
