Guest Ditch_Shitter
still havent seen any swallows yet ditch or heard a cuckoo Well here's a bit of chraic for ye, Bill; About a month back now I was up at Pat's place. His wife called him and opened the kitchen window for a word. As they're talking, I can hear Pat's voice and, behind it, I'm hearing a f*cking cuckoo! Now, ye know what it's like; The man's talking to his wife, on his own property, and all I'm wanting to do is yell: " Pat! Shut the f*ck up a minute, will ye?! I'm trying to listen to something! ". Of course, I kept it shut. Pat finally finished and we got back to what we had been discussing. Chat done, it occurred to me I'd lost all track of time and asked Pat. " Oh ", he says. " Just gone twelve noon. " Cool, says I. And ye know what? As ye were talking to ye lady there I could have swore I heard a damn cuckoo! " That'd be the clock in the kitchen. " He said F*cking tinnatus!

leegreen 2,153
Saw a House Martin on Thursday and herd a Cuckoo on Friday and posted about it. I actually saw a Cuckoo twice today and managed to point it out to someone both times, first time at a glance thought it was a Spar then realised, thirty seconds or so later it flew back across the valley and we got a good look. Does anyone else actually see Cuckoo's? because I rarely see them just here them.
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Cuckoo's? Piece of piss to see, Lee; Once ye have their ground. They tend to pick one of the biggest landmark trees around and will keep flighting out from that to some other prominent point. Suss out their two favoured places and just get between them. Then ye'll be treated to all the views ye could hope for. I leaned on my back gate last year and watched three of them in the air at the same time. All in view. If ye know any budding young Birders who haven't yet seen one, take them out and get under their flight path. One of the most excillerating birds to actually see for the first time
