v-max 2
Hello PMC can be ok but there cheap get v-max 50/55g or speer/sierra spbt (soft point boat tail) if for deer as v-max/nosler etc are for vermin use only not deer. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
PMC are a cheap round and hence deliver cheap results, they are ok for lobbing down the range. go for hornady or sierra. Quote Link to post
barrym3 11
Hello PMC can be ok but there cheap get v-max 50/55g or speer/sierra spbt (soft point boat tail) if for deer as v-max/nosler etc are for vermin use only not deer. when you reload your own bullets what grouping should i get at 100 yds i made some 55gr vmax up with 35 gr of the vit 140 on the net it says 35.6 it is the max i can use is this true thanks for your help Quote Link to post
v-max 2
That load is top end in some books/sites but i have found & worked out to 37/37.1g of N140 with 55g bullet. I have now backed off as i got the same result with 36/36.5g but dont crono my ammo but they worked. You should if you want to try work up to 37/37.1g & look for signs of pressure. All rifles are diffrent & so many factors involved with accuracy & then the most importiant the user. I am a good shot & my rifle is a remmy 700 in an H-S stock but it dose need rebarreld but mine will shoot on my good day 3 shots under 5p. I work 50g v-max/55g v-max & got on very well with 55g sierra gameking for a sp bullet they were 3-5 shots under a 5p. Quote Link to post

v-max 2
If you have signs of pressure or you are within load date limits & you shoot 5 shots in a 1p penny then i would say it likes it log it ie powder/bullet/primmer/seating depth etc & keep target for reffrence. As said all rifles are diffrent like people & some shoot well with diffrent loads & some bullets take more work. Here is an example i have a friend under my wing with a 243 i had this cal for years but its a diffrent rifle so new to load for & find sweat spot. He had 80g nosler bt so i tryed some old loads i had & no good so i loaded 5 sets of 5 loads from starting to max loads. We started with the lighter powder loads with 1 1/2" -2" groups which stayed till the 4th st of loads & all 5 shots could be coverd with a 20p coin & is the normal proceedure for me when testing loads. The 22.250 is a good cal to load & not that fussy mine has same POI (point of impact) with 50g/52g & 55g heads with N140/BL-C2/Varget & groups well with them all but im on 50g v-max & 34g BL-C2 CCi-primmer/norma brass just now.
