Rabbithunter 456
spun polyester is good... its just like spun nylon but i dont think it stretches as much..... most people advertise it as spun nylon though....... try a size 20/18 spun polyester for purse nets..... they worked well for me Quote Link to post
danf 0
How do you know its flax and the spun nylon is spun polyester? .D. Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
sorry, mistake made, the site owner has actually advertised it as spun polyester.. but the flax/hemp issue.... well the site owner admitted to me that it was flax, during a heavy argument. Plus, you just have to look at the twine, to realise it is not true hemp Quote Link to post

Plus, you just have to look at the twine, to realise it is not true hemp Who should I go to for proper hemp? Wish I had known this stuff was flax- already knitted the first twenty metres (10m set) of my longnet with it! What do I do with the other four spools I bought? Maybe someone who knows what' s what, and has the time and inclination, could do some macro pictures of the different materials and maybe recommend suppliers, for the heading of the longnetting section? It would prevent other beginners from making such a disheartening mistake. Quote Link to post

danf 0
my explanation is thus ; it will have been flax from your other suppliers aswell Some was from Bridport nets and three spools were from a company selling all things made from hemp. How can you tell the difference between hemp and flax because up to now iv never used it? .D. Quote Link to post
will.f11 24
polished the better stuff then? im going to start making my own purse nets Proveiding that its true Hemp! the polished stuff absorbes less water than the unfinnished stuff. This is the stuff I thought Jbs were ok. but by word of mouth on this forum, I have been lead to beleive that the hemp they sell is actually flax edited because it probably sounds stpid now everyone has said it is flax. I did see the rest of the posts! forgive me lol Edited May 25, 2008 by will.f11 Quote Link to post

Which of the net making suppliers sell "hemp"? If what you are saying is true then the suppliers iv mentioned are commiting fraud and deception .D. Quote Link to post
