WHICH TERRIER IS BEST FOR BUSHING

Recommended Posts

I DO LIKE THE PLUMMER BREED VERY MUCH, SO THEY ARE GOOD FOR BUSHING WITH THE SHORT COATS?

I THINK IT WILL BE BETWEEN PLUMMER OR PATTERDALE. THERE ARE PLENTY OF FOXES MY WAY BUT DUE TO BAN NO DIGGING IM AFRAID.....

if you want a terrier for bushing then fair enough but leave the patterdales for lad who want to work their dogs, plummers are nice looking dogs and seem to be good at that sort of thing so its probably your best bet

I see were your coming from dev but don't totally agree. Not every terrier owner can get permission on foxes especially in this country!!!!. At the end of the day a terrier will work anything you wan

I think the question of the thread was "which terrier is best for bushing" not "which terrier is best for working"   totally agree with you keeps, i,ve only been on this site for a short time and ca

bushing is my way of hunting i got na springerxbedlington very good but out of experience not again or any type of springer strait or cross patterdale is a good hard terrier all rounder you wont be let down by a patterdale or that type of terrier ive got a couple can be stuborn but hunt allday

i think a springer is to big for the type of land i hunt would say better beater for birds than in tight cover

the terriers i got my family have been breeding the line for years well my grandads dad had them the same line they could be used for foxes some have but we use them for rats rabbit ect

lakeland/ patterdale / border/ or a cross i prefer a cross but with good working lines

i would also say go with someone who has a good bushing dog to learn from cheers dan

yes do it the plummer terrier will be one of the best dogs you will have.. the way they go about their work is someting quite different to all the other terriers (e.g. patterdale.lakelands. bedlingtons ect) trust me if you get a plummer terrier it will be the best thing you do

The bottom ones with the ferrets are mine, they are scattered in the other pics and the lurchers and other plummers are one mates, the russel and black/tan terrier anothers. They all give us some good sport.

in response to where you can find a plummer terrier,i have seen ads on the epupz site.i also own a few plummers, lurchers and a plummer marked pup. 1st cross plummer terrier to a red fell bitch (nuttall lines) which i bred myself and am hopeing will be every bit as good at flushing rabbits from heavy thick cover to my lurchers as my plummers are. this being one of my favourite pass times
