WHICH TERRIER IS BEST FOR BUSHING

I myself have a couple of plummers which i use as much as i can,i havn't any digging permision or should i say no earths on my permision so i get what sport i can out of my dogs.Most of these dogs have great noses on them equal to any terrier and as good as anybreed in cases,so are ideal as a bushing dog and are a trainable terrier as well.These dogs on the whole work well together and i have had great sport out of mine this season,i go out with a few different lads with these dogs and we have good sport even though some of them arn't worked regulaly together.I use mine with my ferrets,for ratting with and for bushing with with my lurcher,grand little allrounder the plummer.

a good mix bred terrier is in my opinion briliant. ive a springer that i use which is very good for flushing in any cover and wont bypass nothing and ive a laky/russel type thing lol she is a very good killer and comes into her own round buildings brush piles and other places i wont let the springer go.

I don't think these are at all bad for bushing - some may not agree - each to their own

I THINK IT WILL BE BETWEEN PLUMMER OR PATTERDALE. THERE ARE PLENTY OF FOXES MY WAY BUT DUE TO BAN NO DIGGING IM AFRAID.....

My dogs Artic have no probs with having short coats,i check them over after working them as i would do even if they had long coats and any thorns are found easily.Have hunted them in tips,thorns and around tin sheets and never had problems due to coats being short,as a allrounder the plummer is surely one of the best.

get a small hound, or a hound cross terrier

 

lots of lads have such dogs for bushing, teckels,beagles,bassets, Petite basset griffon vendeens etc.....or crosses between them and terriers, a decent working hound should get into teh tightest of cover and move evreything and account for some game themselves

Should add that i've just got back from a grand mooch out with the dogs having a few grand hunts on the humble bunny,but should i keep them at home and not get out as i have no earths on my permission?.

totally agree with you keeps, i,ve only been on this site for a short time and can't beleave how SOME people love to force their points across and try and tern a simple question into a debate about something else.

 

 

ok flatcap as i,ve said in a prevous post i have yet to meet a spaniel of any type to hunt heavy cover as well as a terrier, spaniels have been breed primarly to hunt birds.I am not saying a terrier is more controlable definatley not, but their prey drive is much higher and i'am speaking thorough my experiances not what i've read in a book.At the end of the day not everyone has permission to fox with terriers, BUT if you get a terrier do abit of rabbiting, then abit of ratting for a farmer it can lead to permission to control foxes!!!!(when the ban gets lifted!).So why shut the door on Artic, if you have no good advice why give any? Why not try and give positive feedback, look at the bigger picture.
