It's a problem question but the simple fact is there are a number of Hawke and Nikko Sterling (probably a few others as well) that can offer a very acceptable package for £80!

I have a Hawke Reflex 4-12x50 on my 243, it can be had for £45 on Opticswarehouse (at least it could a little while back). Not brilliant in low light, but very good apart from that, easily on a par with my Nikko Nighteater 4-16x50.

Just bought a Simmons 3.5-10x50 Whitetail Classic for my HW100 just for a change I fancied a "no frills" scope just one with good optics that can focus just as well at under 10 yards as it can at 40 yards, after all when you are hunting with a 12ftlbs rifle whats the point in having a scope that can see from here to the moon when you only really need one that can zoom in up to 40/45 yards. This is of course my own personal opinion and others will no doubt have their own preferances.

Regards

Coney.
