stone-cold 0
i saw something, jet black crouched in long grass on the edge of the woods where i live.i was walking my dog down a lane,as i climbed over a gate i looked up and saw it,must of been 150 yards away.first thng i thought was it cant be,as i was getting my binos out it shot into the woods, me and my dog ran into the woods and straight to the area where i thought it entered,my dog was on its scent from the off but nothing. ive been out the same time seveal times since but no luck,my father in law saw one clear as day about 15 years ago in the same area and some bloke was in the local paper couple of years ago saying he spotted one not far from where i saw it. i dont bother talking about it to people normaly cos they take the piss(they dont live in the country)where else would you expect to see one?the local supermarket. i dont care what anyone says there are some big wild cats roaming the countryside

socks 32,253
the problem is that things look a lot bigger from a distance if you have nothing to compare them with and yjis is especially so at dusk when the light casts shadows and plays tricks on your eyes ... the cat taht i shot below a while back looked a lot bigger when i first seen it at the edge of a forestry plantation ..... big cat ??? or just a BIG cat ???????? ......... I hope ye didn't need to haul the bugger far. that was a true wild cat ditch ... it was covered in ticks and fleas and the gamekeeper had seen it in and around the pheasent pens ... that combined with more rabbits than you can shake a shitty stick at and hey presto monster moggy .......... comanche 3,024
Crikey .that's a cat n a half! Believe I saw a picture of one or maybe two servals shot in a chicken run on the IOW a few years ago . Cats they might've been , but they hardly qualified for the title "Big". A few sightings round here in the mid seventies ..These are actually mentioned in a book that I think is called "Alien Animals" .Fairly sure it does have a little map showing sightings .I've got it somewhere in the loft so I'll check when I get home. Is this the book DS is thinking of? That brings us onto another variation on the "big cat"theme. That they truly are aliens or ghostly images of extinct species. Supposed to explain why they don't get caught. But on that basis we should hear reports of mystery" Big Iguanadons" as well.Think even I'd notice one of them.

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Shit and double shit! One because I don't Ever fancy meeting a mangy mog of Those proportions, without it's 100 yards out and keeping still in my beam! The other because I'm wondering if Commanche has cracked the enigma of that damn book! Pul Eeease let it be so! Just to note, Com; It was, as I remember, a pocket sized little volume. (Think, paper back sort of size) and was a serious study. Not 'cryptozoology', as far as I remember anyway. About earlier 70's? Have to feed my Dogs in a minute. Then I'm off to google like hell! I 'm not sure that it is the same book because this one quotes the sightings I read about in my local paper mid seventies. Although it includes earlier cases/quotes sightings by police etc.Definatly a big chapter on "big cats",hard back but paperpack size and thickish. On the other hand there was another book of a similar ilk that I remember reading ,as you say of a more "Natural History " type.(the porcupines are so familiar ,and Sussexwallabies )I'll check it may be mentioned in a Bibliograghy at the back of Alien Animals. I'll let you know.
