Mossberg 500, pump-action .410

Recommended Posts

Its took me nearly 3 weeks to have a "proper" play with my newest gun. I seem to have been working from morning till night these last few weeks, and though i would only moan if i wasnt busy, im sick to the high teeth of moles at present :wallbash:

Anyway, the weather has been awful lately and i just couldnt be bothered going today so i said sod it, i will have a look out with my .410.

I got a call from one of my farmers about a week ago about a particular couple of fields that were getting damaged by rabbits so had a trip along.

The weather was fine as i got there, but within minutes it was blizarding hailstones  .

Anyway, i got the ferrets out and worked a couple of hedges with "aunty sally" and "monkfish". I bolted one large rabbit but it was at the other side of the hedge and i couldnt shoot it. After i Worked my way across into a hotspot of about 100 yardslong and 10ft wide strip of holes!! and had some great fun. Another large rabbit bolted and i clean missed it, followed by another but i had forgot to work the action so i was left wondering why it wouldnt fire :censored: . soon got the hang and dropped the next at about 15 yards. This was followed with pandemonium as aunty sally decided to work one way, monkfish the other!! leaving me in the middle with rabbits bolting either side and probably a little too far off for definite hits, but i ended up with 7 rabbits which i was pleased with, but it could have been a lot more had i a.) been a better shot, and b.) netted a few holes.

Had a bit of sport anyhow, farmer giles thinks im a godsend! :big_boss: , and i christened my new gun.

Im going to try something different these next few days with the rabbits. Ive got a few jars of "sizzle and stir" and the "beef tonight" etc so i will try the rabbits in them and see if they taste as good as im hoping they will.
