Guest Ditch_Shitter
Dogs have Teeth to mince with. Using them keeps them and the rest of the Dog healthy. I personally use Breast of Lamb. High in meat, fat and bone. Cheap as hell too.
gaz 284
Look dont take this the wrong way,but if you have to buy in the bulk of your meat or even worse all of it you shouldnt be classing your lurchers as WORKING dogs...if the game is there you shouldnt need to buy much or any minced beef, tripe ect as your dogs should be feeding at the very least themselves aswell as you. Some lamb kneck bones and beefheart can be good for a bit of variety but if their worked they should catch enough to feed themselves healthly enough...chucking in a bit of good dried meal will do no harm aswell but some dont agree with this if your feeding raw but its never done any of my dogs any harm...get them out and let them catch their own supper
Guest Leveller
I mince rabbits and beef but the bulk is tripe it's all free and I mince it for the simple reason that it's easier for me to feed that way the dogs have plenty of meaty bones too. I do mince a bit of veg in with it and normally have a session of about an hour to mince it and bag it then it goes in the freezer and that should keep me going for 4 to 6 weeks usually. I chuck in a bit of mixer at feeding times too. There are plenty of supplements available like Dorwest's 'Keepers mix' or 'easygreen' if you're looking for something to add instead of fresh vegetables. I'm due another session this week if you like I'll take some pics and show you what goes in with regards to what to feed your dog just start feeding and settle at you're happy with it won't take long and don't panic or worry too much about getting everything precise just try and get a good balance. bill88 6
Mine get rabbit (on the bone and minced) chicken necks, chicken wings, minced whole chicken, breast of lamb,ox heart, and lamb rib and neck bones. If you cant buy in bulk or catch enough fresh, most supermarkets sell chicken wings, breast of lamb, and ox heart and all are reasonably cheap. I THINK MINCE IS OK BUT IF OURS GET ANY WE GIVE THEM A BONE TO CHEW ON FOR THERE TEETH. JACKO. Edited April 11, 2008 by jacko
