Starter Pistol/Blank Firer

Recommended Posts

Is anyone here aware of any change to the law which requires all Starter Pistols / Blank Firers / Replica Handguns to be painted a high visibilty colour ie hot orange?

If so does this apply only to new guns purchased or do we need to paint our starter pistols?

There were rumours here a few months ago, but I recently saw a starter pistol for sale in a local gunshop which had been produced with a hot orange coloured frame, black cylinder, trigger and hammer.

YIS,

TT.

In this weeks edition of the Shooting Times Graham Downing advises us that the provisions of the Violent Crime Reduction Act only apply to the sale, transfer, manufacture or import of blank-firing pistols. Thus it is not an offence for a person who currently possesses a blank-firer to retain and use it in its present state.

Though it is advisable to put a couple of wraps of brightly coloured tape around older black pistols just in case some eejit decides to report you. I replaced my starter pistol recently and the new one has an orange body / barrel and black cylinder and grip.

Theres no way I'm tarnishing my old webley starter. Think ill keep that tucked away and invest in a bright orange jobby!

Quite right! My 'Olympic 6' was under £25 delivered but is not the best engineered firearm i've come across. It does, however, bang on command which is about all you need I suppose and does meet the new fangled politically correct legislation
