Nowadays all beretta sporting/game models are 3" but again you will have to check the proof marks. the browning waterfowl is now chambered in 3 1/2" magnum but the older ones are 3". this gun is along the lines of the 425 which is a great handling gun as well as reasonably priced, the beretta 687 hasnt really changed much design wise. Have you looked at the older ones on guntrader.co.uk. look at the lower end of the price scale for a ten year old gun and see what comes up. Hope it helps. ss06 Quote Link to post

jamesy 0
thanks ss06. the reason i was thinking the 687 is because it was in better condition than the browning but the browning comes with a few standard chokes and extended chokes. so am thinking value for money the browning looks good as S/H ones seem to hold there price. cheers Quote Link to post

If i were you i wouldnt buy a gun that is pitted inside, as once it starts you cant really stop it and the barrels become very sensitive to rust and the pitting will spread, i dont think the older brownings were chromed so the barrels must be taken care of. Is the gun clean inside the barrels or is it still in a fired state, if so clean through the barrels and see what is left then. Quote Link to post
